well but it would only be kinda a thing when we humans start owning our own sci fi spaceships to start paying for the breathing of oxygen! this is because oxygen is used both for us to breath and also as a oxidizer for liquid rocket fuel that you also pay for the water to get the oxygen for the sci fi spaceships life support and fuel but that's normally covered as part of the ship's fuel and crew life support supply replenishment costs but you would only pay for that if your the owner of the ship / space colony not the residents or crew that live in the ship that don't own it don't have to worry about paying for the oxygen then then indirectly by taxes any way

Kinda. You can get water for free in any pond, lake, rain....
@sendthis94802 жыл бұрын
That’s a bit of a straw man argument. You don’t “pay for water”. You pay for the facilities and infrastructure and treatment of clean water brought directly to multiple rooms in your house. You “pay”, so that you don’t have to carry multiple buckets to the local stream, multiple times a day, in order to take a shower or brush your teeth or eat.
@sendthis94802 жыл бұрын
@@ashtiboy I get you’re trying to be funny…but the original comment is not too far off. Right now they are currently working on “direct air capture”, as a means of removing carbon from the atmosphere. I would use energy from the nuclear reactor to power a massive Electrolysis device and split water into hydrogen and oxygen and funnel the oxygen into the habitat. @@badbattleaxe5832 going by current battery technologies it wouldn’t be particularly likely particularly long term. For while the current ones could be maintained they would be a good idea for short range/internal transport. Sources of lithium are limited as is without the lack global infrastructure. Not to mention both charge time and the infrastructure for long range charging that would now be in likely uninhabited and unmaintained areas. More conventional fuel stops or significantly reinforced gas tanks are a fair bit easier to maintain with only the very rare absolutely required maintenance. The pumps would likely be powered by the vehicles as either the main power source or atleast the backup. Long term vehicles would likely have some form of airlock as well even if just air tight plastic sheet or something you can seal yourself to the door with to preserve untainted air supply.

Wait, you have to buy oxygen but internal combustion engines still work outside and people are insane enough to actually use them? Also, Electrolysis is also a thing, not even just splitting water either, oxygen is a byproduct when refining many common metal ores as well. Algae is another great source of oxygen, ditch growing the vascular plants (whos roots consume oxygen) and just grow algae (which is far more efficient). Many can grow in sea water and some even taste like bacon and are very nutritious.

There an episode of The name of the Game with Gene Barry in about 1971. Where he is rescued from outside to underground Los Angeles, in 2017, also from a book, Escape from LA 2017. The world 🌎 is polluted and not many people are left alive.
