Very interesting. I guess thats why people don't just give up on guitar and go for bass for their triple drop G# Djent single.

The pinch harmonic with the all bass is kinda dope! I’d say all bass is cool for creative ideas. Say that with with the pinch harmonic repeats 4 times & the 3rd time has the all bass harmonic. Or some riffs can have that extra growl with the all bass.

That was fun. And some of the bass dominate mixes did sound real brutal.

As a bass player, using these riffs, it sounded way better. Way rounder (minus the pinch). Of course IN THIS CONTEXT that you provided. Also if that is truly your bass DI signal, I am worried... those wave forms need some volume.
@NickLeonard3 ай бұрын
@@Hiei999 I did use the input gain on the amps to match the volumes. It doesn't really matter how loud or soft you record, within reason, there over 100db of boosting you can do digitally before introducing any distortion

@@NickLeonard I was more joking, my bass DI always comes in hot compared to my guitar. Both are active pick ups, but preamp on my bass really adds girth I guess.

Sounded to me like everybody was chugging the same riff. If there had been a dedicated bass line, the differences probably would have been more pronounced. Personally, I'm annoyed at the current trend of muddying the waters. You have bass players moving to 6+ strings to play the squeaky notes at the high end and guitarists drop tuning 7+ strings to chug the low tones. It's like they're in the closet, secretly wanting to play the other instrument but unwilling to admit it to themselves.
@NickLeonardАй бұрын
It would've been more pronounced, and a good idea if I ever revisit the topic, but the question I was trying to answer was: if someone only has a baritone, or only has a bass, and wants to play in these low tunings, how much of a difference does the instrument make? There are lots of bands and subgenres that live in these low tunings. If I was playing a more standard rock/metal style with the guitar and bass an octave apart, it would sound way weirder, but I don't think that would really be a question anyone has...
