@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor This saved my car hood. I was able to lift it with the hook and metal piece hanging. I was able to get back on my car since the battery was dead.

You’re da man!!! Thanks Peter!!! I have a 2009 Elcipse Spyder and the patch rusted out so the hood wouldn’t open. Had to remove the assembly like you did and voila!! Hood opened!!!

the car transformed , changed colour, and turned to junk car during the video. Peter can see the mechanism so its easy to get there from that point. There are cars you cannot even see the mechanism from the front. I have this problem on a 2014 corolla . I even have the whole grille removed and still cant see the locking mechanism . I came here for info but in this case didn't help me. It can be a serious problem to beat . Depends on the car . my next choice is to get it high on axle stands and remove the plastic cover under engine front and see what can be done. I envisage a nice lon rod i can apply sideways force to the lever just like the cable should be doing.

Why take the bolts out.. you can see the mechanism plainly. Just yank the lever to the side like the cable does !!!
