Great Gatsby by Zack Snyder: In order for Gatsby to fit amongst the socialites of the 1920's upper class, he must use his famous wit and charm, we as viewers never get to see this facade of wealth however, it is represented as a fantasy within a fantasy where he fights robots, dragons and Nazi zombies with a samurai sword to a soundtrack by bjork. Thanks! That's what we were going for.
@HeroOfLogic8 жыл бұрын
It's so weird though because his objectivist philosophy seems to be proven wrong by both Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman. Batman is the bad guy and Superman is the ultimate good guy, despite being an altruist. Superman sacrifices himself for the sake of other people: something a follower objectivism would never do. I still found the video funny.
@qazwsxedc5628 жыл бұрын
I think this DC films might be suffering character wise because in general superheros are altruistic. they are extremely powerful people who help those below them out of sheer kindness or a sense of duty. the exact opposite Objectivism . It explains why many completly dislikes his take on superman who's basically the template for DC heroes an is the pinnacle of an altruistic character as well as a defender of the disinfranchise. I also explains why his take on watchman was pretty good since it's a deconstruction of superheros
8 жыл бұрын
qazwsxedc562 His Superman isn't altruistic? What? He always wanted to help people, but firstly was told by Joe Kent to reveal himself when he will be ready (just like in comics). Many dislikes this take on Superman simply because they don't know character, they think he is just a always optimistic guy who resolves all problems by one take.
@qazwsxedc5628 жыл бұрын
Stef Tep what your describing is the *current* modern superman. the character over 80 years old. There are many different takes on superman over the years. heck the original golden age superman(my personal favorite) in the 1930s was raised in an orphanage and didn't even have family. And not every interpretation has him wait to reveal himself some have him start heroing about in highschool at smallville as superboy. the character will change again when new writers get a hold of him. It's actually happening right now cause cause DC comics are doing a light reboot called rebirth and superman now married to Lois and has a adolescent son named Jon I'm not saying Snyder isn't portraying him as altruistic what I'm saying is that since it goes against his philosophical view point it makes sense why he's having trouble with the characters to appeal to audiences. He wants to write them different but most people have their mind set on who these characters are before hand. I think BvS would have been an amazing movie if it was made with original characters not iconic ones like the main DC heroes

Catcher in the Rye? Actually spot-on, not too far off from the actual novel. Sense and Sensibility? Seemed legit at first, but then got deliberately silly. The Giving Tree? Deliberate parody, complete silliness from beginning to end. Overall, as far as film projects go, these were all shot and directed quite brilliantly. You should be proud of yourselves for emulating Zack Snyder's visual style so well, even if it's at the cost of lampooning his contextual style. As for the news that Snyder is planning on making a movie of The Fountainhead, this personally worries me. Zack Snyder is one of my all-time favorite directors, but at the same time, I literally can't stomach Ayn Rand and her atrocious writing or her laughable ideology of objectivism. To hear that Snyder wants to adapt The Fountainhead is very troubling and conflicting for me, but then again, this might just mean that he perhaps has some plans to tweak it just enough to stray from its objectivist ties. It might actually improve on the godawful novel in every way. But if it's a more faithful adaptation, with all the objectivist ideology remaining intact, I won't help but despise it worse than Sucker Punch, the only Zack Snyder movie I haven't ended up loving.
