In the 1980s, pretty much all TV cartoon characters were made to look like they were either young adults, "old folk," or young children. Even characters stated to be teens didn't look it. One of the things I appreciate most in this show is healthy body image with everyone having their own shape instead of "generic, big chest, little waist, long legs" for every character over the age of 14.

"Is this based on a toy? Was He-Man just a toy and then they made a show off of it?" Yes! Much like the media made for Barbie/Mattell, the original He-Man and She-Ra shows were created specifically to sell merchandise. The shows were pretty much supplemental material for the toys themselves. This has always been absolutely wild to me. Interestingly (imo), you can see the way that the toys influenced and informed the boundaries of what the shows could do with character design. The toys were created using the same or similar toy molds, so all of the main female characters have the same body type. Super weird and interesting capitalist history.

yeah, one part of the reason you hear people yell about cartoons rotting your brain, a LOT of that stuff was cemented in place by 80s cartoons, which... is kinda fair. On the plus side, children's shows have come such a long way the last 15 or so years. It is really impressive that they turned what was an absolute mess of designs based on random toy parts, into something that feels mostly cohesive but with just... surprising and whimsical variety.

YAYYYYY back for another episode! To answer your question (idk if anyone has yet), Adora and Catra are 18 at the start of the series and all of the characters age throughout, so they're in their early twenties by the end! :)

Winx club and WITCH were part of the badass girly pop shows along with Totally Spies, Code Lyoko and, I’d argue, Martin Mystery. Mostly French/French Canadian animation shows that had a GRIP on the early aughts cartoon. I felt Indi when she sighed 😂😂4:00

Pegacorn! Swiftwind transformed into closer to what he originally looked like. He was white with hot pink tail etc, white wings with a row of hot pink, and gold hooves, she-ra wore white and gold, so they were coordinated. I was given one as a kid, I wanted a remote control car.

There's a really cool episode with Razz about how memories work later on, I can't really give much detail without giving it away though. This show has a lot of really interesting ideas/approaches to stuff, It'll be fun to see these again
