What Insulation We Use in Armatures

Hello everyone!
You may have been wondering what kind of insulation we use in the armature slots.
Well there are two materials, for now. The sandpaper (when you have no other choice) and the Nomex paper which is really great for insulation.
Insulating the wires from the metallic surface is always necessary and never ever rewind armatures or coils without insulation, you risk the chance of shorting the wires from the metallic surface or from the wires itself.
If you plan to use a plastic for insulation, used a plastic with high resistance to heat, or use it on armatures which do not produce much heat (if ever there is and you have no other material to use).
And by the way, these are not the only insulation materials out there, there are a lot. The only reason we use these is because it is readily available in our market.

Thanks for the idea I used it on a small engine coil that wasn’t insulated and arcing solved the problem

What is the thickness of the Nomex you are using? Is this for AC or DC motors... or both?

I have a plunge router which has a 28 slot commutator and a 14 slot armature. Will it be the same as using a 24-12 ?? If you don't know the exact number of windings in a coil , can an estimate be made such as used in 24-12

hello sir yes you can use the same method sir. you can estimate sir, just enough to fill the slots
