I hope you're not arguing. That first part of my reply was a quote. MY point is that people dislike change, and pleasing them is impossible. They will always find something to bitch about. I myself think Win8 is a huge improvement over 7 technologically; I'm really impressed. But taking aesthetics, tradition, and common sense into the equation, they made a huge mistake putting an OS meant for touch tablets on a PC, this is why windows 8 has a bad rep.

It may sound trivial, but it's incredibly obscure for anyone their first time. Especially in my first experience, which was about when it came out. Even though I realized the implication that you could access information from all around the world, I still thought it to be the most absurd, convoluted process I'd ever seen. The internet is so much better these days, it's incredible. But for an older person, let's assume they have never touched a PC, I seriously doubt they could make it here.

@tried12usernames I haven't argued with you, other than pointing out that smartphones are programmable computers (with operating systems) in the same sense as a desktop computer. As for a browser being the most important program. That's not true, the operating system is most important. But if we are talking strictly about user-space programs, then what's most important will depend on the person. For some people, photoshop is most important. For others, the most important is the browser.
