I think one of my favorite opera bits ever is actually a parody of the cantabile-cabaletta thing, in Donizetti's Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali, about an opera-within-an-opera. After a disastrous rehearsal of a cantabile during which musical cues are missed and words are messed up, we directly skip to an attempt at a cabaletta that, depending on the singer, can be utterly hilarious. And that was me geeking out on something vaguely relevant ;)

So cantabile = the slower bits and cabaletta = the faster bits? Are there any examples of this in a 3-part structure where the cantabile is reprised at the end of the piece? For instance, (to stretch an example in the same way that a black hole stretches matter): does Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody start with a cantabile and then go into a super-rock-freakout cabaletta? And end with a reprise of the cantabile?
