Does this work the same for plus sizes? I have a 47 inch waist and 57 inch hips. When I draped it like you said, on my custom stuffed dress form, I got to the bias at the quarter, and at the half it was to the cross grain, then I ran out of fabric. So instead I drew a quarter circle in my size at the corner of the fabric and lined that up to the dressform's waistline with the selvedge lined up at the center front. that came out much better. I may still use the first one but it will make a double circle skirt, I think.

Hi Barbara, You are correct on both counts. In the first case, you would need a wide fabric like 60 inch wide or close to that, or put a seam somewhere to make it work. Anyway, glad you were able to try it out... Regards, Nino

how does this work if you have lined fabric and you want the lines to be straight going down towards the floor?

Well, in that case a circle skirt might not work, I would suggest using a dirndl skirt pattern (Google: dirndl skirt stripes) and you'll see what I mean... Thanks. Nino Via
