A Public Health Nurse interacts with communities as a whole, treating patients through use of research and promotion of healthy lifestyles. In doing so, Public Health Nurse's embody the definition of Public Health, as they seek the prevention of disease, promotion of health, and prolongation of life for the community, or population, as a whole. The Public Health Nurse's role in the community is an example of an active role of Public Health at a local level. This job is appealing to me as the Public Health Nurse is able to care for a wide range of clients, and impact a multitude of lives as a daily living. By doing so, the Public Health Nurse is engaging in bettering the community, and truly embodying the mindset of a nurse, with the actions of public health.

I want to be a community nurse. I love helping people to prevent, support and enhance people's lives to live independently and be the helper in their environment so they remain within the comfort of their own home, promoting dignity and autonomy.

I think many diseases can be prevented through education. That is the power of public health care. I am a nursing student. I feel powerless by seeing my patients suffer from those diseases that they can do something to stop the diseases from exacerbating. Unfortunately, because they have little physiology knowledge or limited resources, they don’t know how to prevent them. I think public health is my passion.
