What is a Gantt chart? ...explained in under 3 minutes

All projects should have a Gantt chart. They are brilliant for planning and for communicating everyone's roles, as well as thinking about resources and monitoring progress. They are quick and easy to make, probably on Excel (more details here: • Gantt Chart Excel Demo ) You would be MAD not to have a Gantt chart for your project!

I think Excel is the simplest and easiest way to make one, as described here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnXIpZmFeKiAh9Esi=xd4aq_Zc-in93VRH. You don't need to be an excel whizz at all, it's really easy.

Perfect, im working as production engineer EPCI for oil and gas. I think i need to learn from basic. There a lot of problem in actual job. Mostly dueto material delay, so planner team need to make overlap schedule. But i think its not realistic sometime. And i dont have strong reason to discuss with them. Eventhough as actual we have sense for that

Could you do a best practices video on updating an excel gantt chart, once the project is actually running. I have a hard time imagining how it will look like and work, e.g. when you have a delay on the critical path. Seems it would require a lot of manual work?

yes, I prefer excel, I don't like the way MS Project jumps straight to the Gantt chart without getting the dependencies and critical path sorted out first.
