Something like that happened to my family, but sadly it didn't end in apologies and "it's all fine" like in the episode. Years ago I was around 8-9yo in my uncles house, and asked him (in front of my aunt) why did he like to eat bananas hidden and if it was for not having to divide his lunch, maybe? They both giggled at the silly and random question, until I explained I heard my mom saying to my dad about him "you know he really likes the bananas in secret and still have it after marry", something like that. I saw the glow fade away from their faces, but I just found it funny to gossip, he went "well she was joking, right, why would anyone hide food?", I and replied all smug "nope, nope, she was really serious. I don't why she was mad, banana is fruit and good". I'm my eyes they just got along with the fun, but in the following days I remember my mom discussing with him, my uncle and aunt started having problems and some months after they just weren't together anymore. When I got around 12-13, I realized what that really was supposed to mean and linked to what happened after. Still today I don't know if that was true or not, or if really it was related to their separation or if it was just the start and she got more stuff, I just feel pretty shitty and ashamed for saying stuff I shouldn't. Now I'm 15, and hang out a lot with him, he's a very cool guy, but all he always said was that their marriage just didn't worked anymore.
