Loved it. I earned my Sport Pilot Gyro with Dayton this past spring. I have landed at Cross Country Estates several times myself. Great job on the video, Jeremy - love the multiple camera views.

It's nice to see videos of my local area. A friend of mine started the Cross Country airfield and built the first house there. I plan to finish my Gyro add-on and CFI this year and work toward being a Rotary wing DPE.

I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the physics of the autogyro. What keeps the rotor spinning without putting more pressure under one side of the copter than the other and still angle the blade for lift? If that makes any sense.

The rotor is constantly in autorotation like a helicopter would be. The forward thrust of the pusher propeller creates relative wind that turns the rotor disk. Thanks for watching!

One thing that’s amazed me as an aspiring gyro pilot is the lack of primary/standard category aircraft in the us versus the innovation happening in Europe. Hopefully the use of LODA’s for experimental gyros will continue increasing US gyro pilots and build the market for this awesome class of aircraft.

Dayton has some good insight on that. I would have to agree though. Insurance is tough too.

If the rotor isn't powered how does it get rotating before u r moving ? U were stationary on the ground and u stated u we're gonna pre-rotate it
@AllAmericanAviation4 жыл бұрын
Great Question! The rotor system has a "pre-rotator" that is tied to the output drive of the engine. It can be engaged and disengaged like a clutch drive to spin the blades up prior to take off!
