Has your down in MA adopted stretch code? Does your state or area provide something similar?

Thank you for putting out such great content. Pretty much all of my KZbin consumption is done at double speed but your video's are so information packed I always have to slow it down.

Thank you for having good quality audio in this video. So many videos have a mic on the camera and it sounds terrible.

We are thinking of replacing all our ducts. Does this mean we have to pay for a HERS test if we are in California? How much does a HERS test cost?

Does Hers rating saffect resale value pn homes?
@Nick-dc6qk2 жыл бұрын
Depends , I mean you can always preface the home sale with “excellent energy efficiency “ but each home no matter the score will differ on performance , based on home owner behavior. HERS is basically for builders to get a rebate all while building more energy efficient homes , HERS , EFL , Energy Star Etc.

These codes are getting ridiculous already. I get insulation, air sealing, and ventilation, but why would a municipality care about how much energy I use? If I'm willing to pay for it, what business is it of theirs? I have no problem with being energy efficient, but I have a problem with making the permitting process more and more difficult than it needs to be. I'm just happy I don't live in an area like that.

Maybe because they have to pay for facilities or upgrades to supply more and more energy and to deal with carbon emissions and the consequences of global warming as more development occurs? Agree on over-reaching though.

It's in their best interest for everyone to be as energy efficient as possible. Less overall energy usage means less strain on the city's power grid, which means they'll spend a lot less in the long run expanding, repairing and maintaining that infrastructure. And at the rate housing is being built in major cities, this will make a huge impact.

@@SgtZima except the city has to pay zero of that. The customers ultimately will pay for it with their utility bill. And that is usually enough for most people to choose energy efficient appliances.

@@lifeaspat - And welcome to California. We just had our heating and A/C replaced and by law we need to have a HERS Test by an independent contractor on the ducts because of that. So, updating and upgrading our HVAC triggers a Hers Test...makes sense???
