Last story left out some major elements in the story 1. The SS officer Schrader died after being shot before the siege began 2. Former French Prime Minister who was a POW was about to be shot by a sniper but Gangl got him out of the line of fire.. the effort ended his life.. He and Schrafer were the only casualties of the defenders 3. the POW tennis player offered himself to sneak pass the attackers encircling them and get help from Lee's detached armored force.. Lee argued it will be dangerous but it's the only chance they got to win so he did agree to it... His troops arrive just in time before they really were out of ammos 4. Lee was promoted to Captain and received an award whilst Gangl's Heroic Efforts was awarded as the Hero of Austrian Resistance and was named after a street in Wörgl and a Sabaton Song "The Last Battle" was made after them

I'm not much familiar with it, but my great grandfather was one of the miners during the sunshine mine disaster. He ended up writing about it and someone stole the story and turned it into a film where our family didn't get a cut of it. The tale got really foggy after enough generations that I can't adequately tell the story in any form or recall any notable details, hell, I might be inaccurate about the mine name itself!

God damn, it's scary to just hear how bad shit can turn due to hasty greed. I bet the flora surrounding the lake in story 1 before and after the disaster changed a lot due to the salt content of the soil killing most of the plants. I bet that if it was pulled along the Columbia river over on the west coast, you'd see a total environmental collapse on a bioregional level due to a large chunk of the breeding ground of salmon being cut off (and salmon are needed for the ecosystems here to survive)

On January 30, 1835: US President Andrew Jackson was leaving the capitol building after a friend's funeral, when a man pulled out a revolver and pulled the trigger; the gun jammed. However, would-be assassin Richard Lawrence was prepared incase this happened- pulling out his second revolver- he aimed, and again, pulled the trigger. Once again, it jammed. President Jackson was reasonably taken aback by this; once regaining he composure- being reasonably ticked off- (and being Andrew Jackson) had to be *held back to keep from caning his would-be assassin* . Richard Lawrence was found not guilty by reason of insanity, and spent the remainder of his life in insane asylums. The best word I have ever heard Jackson described is "Volatile". If you're interested in learning more about Old Hickory, I'd thoroughly recommend "American Lion" by Jon Meacham.

Molly Brown wasn't the true "Unsinkable Woman" Now everyone knows the Story of Molly Brown, the unconventional Heiress to a mining fortune, who survived the Titanic and went on to become a legend of that dreadful night in April of 1912. But almost no one knows the story of Violet Jessop, who worked for the White Star Line beginning in 1909. One night in 1911, Violet was proudly performing her final duties as The RMS Olympic was coming into port. It was a foggy night so Olympic was blowing its horns and whistles, being answered in turn by another vessel the HMS Hawke. A way of giving location. Mere minutes later a loud crunch and a shuddering of the ship brings Violet to the deck, The two ships have collided with the Hawke being broken in two. Immediately Captain Edward Smith ordered the lifeboats readied. After a few minutes, he gives another order upon assessment of the Damage to the Olympic. Lower boats, bring any passengers of that ship aboard. Violet would aid the survivors of the collision and continue her career. In 1912 Violet was transferred to to another Ship, one that would mingle her story into only one of thousands. Violet was transferred to the RMS Titanic. Fluent in speaking Welsh, Violet was placed in the 2nd class cabins as many of those in 2nd and 3rd class spoke primarily Welsh. After the iceberg struck Violet was tasked with showing the passengers who didn't speak the King's on how to act. she made her way into the chaos on deck and did her best to remain calm as everyone panicked around her. Rather unceremoniously she was ordered to enter Lifeboat 16. She did so and just before it lowered a baby was suddenly thrust into her arms. Without any further warning, the boat lowered. For the next 4 hours, Violet and the others struggled to keep warm. Hungry, freezing, and exhausted, They were relieved to see the Carpathia arrived to rescue the Titanic's survivors. Once aboard, a woman, who Violet believed was the mother of the baby she had been given rushed up and grabbed him, relievingly crying as she clutched the baby before leaving. Violet would never learn the identity of either the baby or the woman. After the start of WW1 Violet's next chapter would take place. By this point, the not yet launched RMS Britannic had been drafted along with the Olympic. It was in 1916, Violet would serve as a nurse aboard the now-renamed HMHS Britannic. It was during this time a German U Boat received intel stating that there was a British travel route of Wartime ships. As such a decision was made, one that would ultimately claim 30 and injure dozens more. Early that morning Violet had just made her way into the dining hall for breakfast when an explosion violently rocked the Britannic. The German U boat just 4 days earlier had planted underwater mines. Violet was immediately aware of the situation as Britannic began to list heavily. Immediately the order was given to ready lifeboats, but the captain very quickly realized Brotannic was only about 3 miles from shore. With his entire crew at risk, he made a decision to attempt to beach the ship. Ordering full ahead began turning towards the shore. Violet quickly made her way back towards the dining hall and began filling her pockets with pastries, breads, and fruit. It was something she claimed she learned from Titanic, food was a necessity in hours-long waits for rescue. As she was doing this, the Firemen (The name given to those that fill the boilers) made their way to the deck. Seeing the lifeboats being readied they made their way into one and began, without orders to lower themselves. Some crew seeing this began entering another. Violet seeing lifeboats being loaded and lowered assumed the order was given to abandon ship. So, armed with her gains she entered into a 3rd lifeboat before it too began being lowered. As soon as her boat reached halfway down a wild commotion was heard. Turning, Violet saw a horrific sight. Britannic has listed so severely that one of its massive propellers is now sticking halfway out of the water. Behind it is what once was a lifeboat. It is now little more than a pile of lumber and the bodies of the dead or dying. The 2nd boat is now frantically cutting at the ropes to their lifeboat, trying desperately to get clear as the Propeller comes closer, before ultimately bailing as the propeller cones down on the lifeboat, launching an unfortunate few airborne as the boat lurched. Now on the water, Violet's lifeboat begins the same process, struggling to get free from the ship before it's too late before they too bail. As Violet went under the water began churning her in every way possible quickly disorienting her. To the day she would die, Violet had no idea what hit her, be it a piece of debris, the propeller, or an unfortunate victim, but something slammed into her head fracturing her skull and giving her a severe concussion. Still, though bleeding and half-conscious, Violet struggled to surface, only doing so when she was grabbed by a doctor. When the ship finally stopped and lifeboats were launched, Violet was pulled aboard one and watched as Britannic first nosed into the seafloor before slipping under the water. Violet would return in 1920 to continue to work for White Star until 1950 when she retired. In 1968 She received a phone call. In the call, Violet was asked "Did you save a baby from the Titanic?" Shocked as she had never said a word of her story that night, she replied, "Yes.. I did." to which the Voice said: "I was that Baby." Laughed, then hung up. Violet believed that it was in fact the baby, though many dismissed it as a cruel prank. Violet would die in 1971, never knowing if it truly was the baby she saved in 1912.

The first legal slave owner in the United States was named Anthony Johnson. The slave he owned was an indentured servant named John Casor, who tried to leave his servitude once his contract ended, but Anthony Johnson successfully argued in court that John Casor was his legal property. Both Anthony Johnson and John Casor were black men.

Anthony Johnson was himself a slave before owning slaves, so the first slaveowner? Not really ^^' As for the first legal slave, it's true for a civil court case. But the first slave for life was John Punch, which is also important because it was the start of the racial discrimination between white and black people. John Punch was an indentured servant (a slave but only for a limited time), he fled his master's property with two other white indentured servants. They were all three caught back, condemned to lashes, but the whites had 4 years added to their contract, while the black one had a lifetime added. Note: of course this is all what we know from sources, it probably began earlier and was just not recorded officially in court ^^'

I was hoping somebody talk about the goldsboro incident cause it may have a future tragic "epilogue" so i will talk: In 23/01/1961, during Cold War, USA had planes, with two hydrogen bombs in each with 200X the explosive forse plus the nuke that destroy nagasaki, circulate the country for the case Russia throw a nuke the planes go to Russia throw the bombs. So that day one plane, close to Goldsboro, fell to the ground and one bomb got buried, this bomb had two nucleus after some excavation one was fond the other never was. The army buy the piece of land where the bomb fell so no construction will be made above the missing nucleus but someday it may explode and the people of Goldsboro be obliterate

There's a lot of misinformation about the Romans departure from the Britain. The thing to realise is that, everyday life continued, pretty much as it always had. The Romans didn't micromanage everything. So they appointed local governors and officials all over the land that were selected from locals. These officials didn't leave Britain with the Romans (why would they? Britain was their home") So, for the most part, Britain continued functioning, pretty much as it had, when the Romans were here. The appointed officials continued their admin duties as normal and continued maintaining infrastructure etc... So local people continued paying these locals to maintain vital resources on behalf of the people. Britain entered the "Dark Ages" but this is also misunderstood. The sun still rose every day. Life was just as bright as normal but documentation was abandoned. As a result, historians looking back on the period, found a shortage of any written records to depict living conditions of that time. So these historians were left in the "dark" about what the dark ages were really like. Later still, the term "dark ages" was misconstrued to mean something bad, (instead of just unknown), which is what gave rise to most of the myths that still survive to this day.

there are a few things that aren't quite right about this historically significant battle with Germans, French and Americans fighting side by side. Firstly, there was no telephone connection. A civilian, recruited by the Americans from a nearby town, aged 16, broke the news by escaping the fortress on a bicycle to the nearest town and from there making a telephone connection to request reinforcements. Sturmbandführer Schreder was killed in the battle when a sniper took aim at the American commander and he pushed him aside, himself being fatally wounded. The commander later nominated him for the Silver Star, making him the only German officer in World War II to be awarded the Silver Star for what was proposed. The award was denied to him by a majority of one vote.

Well, one story I know about that isn't in history books was the Trinity River of Texas' flood of 1908. Records show that the river does a catastrophic flood every 800 years, and this was it. The river, which is normally at 15 feet in Dallas, swelled to 52.6 feet (16.03 m.) The miracle here was that only 5 people died. Most of the casualties were of livestock. However, some parts of the city were cut off and could be reached only by boat. When the flood waters receded, they found dead cows in the branches of trees with no way to get them down. There was a movement to make a concrete bridge over the river, which was done in 1912.

H.G.Wells's novel War Of The Worlds was made into a radio show that was mistaken for news reports, electric taxis were used in New York more than a *century* ago, There's probably also the Louisiana purchase, someone at least tried to make a vacuum-based airship and I'm glad that the Wardenclyffe Tower incident was not a story of any of the historians used in the video because it says "can't be found in textbooks".

hope someone else is reading it there was a fascinating story li kama was born the son of Chinese immigrants in Honolulu, Hawaii both parents died of the spanish flu he was adopted by a family of native Hawaiians after the attack on Pearl Harbor he was imprisoned because he looked Asian he wanted to do military service and enlisted in the Marine Corps he fought in World War II and was twice decorated for bravery in combat. in 1943 his troop came under enemy artillery fire in buna the Japanese took advantage of the confusion to launch a surprise attack kama's comrades were killed but he survived with second degree burns during his escape he grabbed a sword from a dead Japanese officer and used it to kill 17 other Japanese soldiers including an officer and made his way into the jungle. he survived there for several weeks, obtained weapons and ammunition from dead soldiers, hunted and carried out guerrilla-style raids four weeks later he met another American troop who thought he was Japanese and took him prisoner. the commander on duty, known as Douchebag, refused to listen. he was taken to a makeshift prison camp, from where he was then transferred to an Allied prison camp, where he was involved in a prison break with a German, an Austrian and an Italian, and a few other people involved were brought to America to be officially charged and convicted. where someone finally checked his story and it was discovered that he was an American soldier. he was offered the Silver Star if he refrained from making the matter public. he declined, was honorably discharged and sued Commander Douchebag after the war, as well as the US Army. an American court ruled in his favor and awarded him $750,000 in compensation and lifelong veterans' benefits. he died in 2023 at an advanced age.

Fun fact, after the healing of the King Louis XIV from his anal fistula, he asked his official composer to wrote a Te Deum to celebrate his recovery, Lully did it, and according to some sources, this melody he composed may be the ancestor of God save the King/Queen that is the unofficial hymn of the UK ^^ Also, Lully crushed his foot with his direction stick (in the time conductors didn't used a little wand to give the tempo to their orchestra but a massive and heavy stick), refused to be operated, and died of gangrene a few weeks later. So the surgical operation on the ass of the french king may have birthed the english hymn and have certainly caused the death of his official composer XD

Intentionally starting forest fires, however, is not standard practice in modern warfare, and most modern people would consider it extremely dishonorable. He apparently came to share that sentiment. (Edited to say **intentionally** starting forest fires...because of course warfare involves lots of fire and could accidentally start one easily if fought in a wooded area in dry conditions....but lighting the forest on purpose, just to burn it down as the goal, would be considered very bad form.)

1371: Battle of Kosovo. Ottomans defeat the Serbs despite the charge of the Serbian knights, and Serbia is conquered by the Ottomans. Serbian knights now serve in the Ottoman army. 1396: Battle of Nicopolis. Ottomans defeat a French-Hungarian army, thanks in part to the charge of the Serbian knights. 1402: Battle of Ankara. Ottomans defeated by the army of Timur, despite the charge of the Serbian knights. Serbia freed. So, in 1396, the Serbs remain subjugated by the Ottomans, thanks in part to their own efforts. And in 1402, the Serbs regain their freedom from the Ottomans...*despite* their best efforts.
