I am on the lesser end of Mall Ninja, and it’s thanks to the work of Shad and the crew. I’m not trained in any disciplines, but I’m fairly certain I could carry myself in a fight based things I’ve overheard actual professionals say, Shad being among them. The biggest showing of my mall ninja side is that I think that the whip can still be used as a good weapon. There’s caveats and more explanation required, but the main spirit of the ordeal is very mall ninja of me.
@galactigo44638 ай бұрын
A whip can be very powerful in the right hands but in a serious fight against modern weapons I think it would have trouble because the whip isn’t designed to kill. (Or at least most of them aren’t)

I, sadly, never passed through the halls of Maul Nin-jua, as I always went for things like hunting knives, filet knives, etc. The most Mall Ninja item I have is a key chain shaped like the sword used by knight Artorias from Dark Souls, and it's just meant to be a key chain/letter opener.

Never a true Mall Ninja myself, though I did buy one or two Mall Ninja swords when I was in high school. I actually have one of the swords in that medieval Drake meme (third from the right). Being in the US, once you're old enough to have guns the Mall Ninja stuff loses some of it's appeal.😁

I'm a medieval enthusiast myself. I fell for certain misconceptions as much as anybody but I didn't really have a mall ninja phase. I didn't buy swords, I made my own out of wood. They were based off my biggest early influence: the LOTR movies and their companion book LOTR weapons and warfare. They have a few fantasy inspired elements of course but they're outstandingly well grounded for a piece of entertainment media. The first exposure to the truth that I can remember is the old Shadiversity realism review of LOTR castles. I've been following you for six wonderful years, here's to another six and hopefully many more besides!

Yup. I passed through the Mall Ninja phase in the 90s. I still have most of my mall ninja stuff. They just... don't ever get touched anymore. Back then it was a lot harder to get information about swords, and what was good. It wasn't until I got a proper sword that I reached enlightenment. Its probably easier to avoid the mall ninja phase now because of the internet and so many more vendors selling functional swords, but I'm sure a lot of people still experience it. I'm glad I went through the phase though because its fun to laugh about now, and it gives me a greater appreciation of something thats properly made.

I was 100% a Mall Ninja. I had a full ninja outfit (a pretty decent one, actually), and a cheap (read 'crappy') replica katana (it was a gift from my dad when I was about 12), and big, shiny, chrome shurikens that usually didn't stick into the plywood targets I set up. I did make it to green belt by my junior year in high school, from the Budokan karate school I joined when I was in 8th grade. Yep, full Mall Ninja, until I decided to become a Rock Star, instead.

Back in the 1980s, I loved the fantasy blades. I got a Gil Hibben "Double Shadow". Nice looking, but heavy, thick and unwieldy. The I started studying blades more and got a Gerber Mark 1. Loved that knife, until someone loved it more than me. I have always loved blades, short and long. My first introduction to swords was a Scottish friend who had a basket-hilt back sword, wonderful blade, but not my style. I prefer a nice long sword, light, nimble, 1 or 2 hands. For me, near perfection.

I was a mall ninja for a very short period of time when I was a teenager because I was unfortunately not allowed to do martial arts and reenacting or else I would be abused for it. So I at the time had no choice but to find ways to enjoy my passion for weapons and medieval life in any way I could at that time. But right after I moved out I then did multiple different kinds of martial arts and I then got into medieval reenactments and renn fares and I worked very hard and spent a lot of time and money on the garb I have today. Currently I am a member of the sca and my persona is a medieval executioner and since I am long out of the mall ninja stages my executioner garb is historically very accurate I even made a hooded mask that’s looks very similar to one in the dungeons in Europe that is on display in the museum there. I also have a German executioner sword and a executioner axe and thumbscrews and many other devices I use for reenactment obviously because in history not all executioners wore the hoods and they did not wear them all the time only when either executing a individual who was liked by the crowd or a noble person to hide themselves from retribution. And not all areas of Europe did that. Besides to get to the point I have not been a mall ninja for a long long time I am 28 years old and do real historical reenactments and hema and I am definitely someone who studies weapons and different devices and is long out of the mall ninja phase. I am happy to live in USA so i can also enjoy any kind of weapons I want. I don’t have to worry about a country banning and completely outlawing weapons in USA i am aloud to bare arms in my home and that means I am allowed to own any weapon I want and learn about and how to use pretty much any type of weapon from bladed weapons to poll weapons to throwing weapons to firearms to bows and arrows and more. And as a weapon enthusiasts I am happy to be able to do so. I think I would be missable if I could not and someone else could control what I do unjustly.
