how would you add a generac transfer switch to this type of meter disconnect combo
@MrEricdgreat4 жыл бұрын
So would you still need to have a main breaker at the main branch circuit box if you are installing it indoors??? Or would you treat it as a sub panel??? As of for the 2020 code.
@electricianhub864 жыл бұрын
What's going to happen in the 2020 is you're going to be required to have a disconnect outside. You can accomplish that many ways, a couple of examples are using a regular meter and then dropping below and putting a disconnect that would be your first point of Disconnect that's where you would Bond everything. Another way is to put a meter disconnect combo, there are other ways for these are probably the two most popular. Great question!

If you’re just upgrading the panel, can you just use the existing meter socket?
@ElectricalCodeCoach3 жыл бұрын
Depending on the situation it is possible that you could leave the old meter socket there, definitely want to work with your electrical inspector there are several things that could make it so you have to replace it.

Must be a southern thing. I don't see them up here in PA. I deliver top soil and stone to new housing plans. I don't see outside cutoffs just the meter 🤷♂️

The meter combo as mentioned in the 2020 NEC has been put on hold because of Covid. It has been revised in the 2023 NEC and will be implemented sometime in early 2024.

Hi was wondering what type of wire I can use in a metal conduit riser down to my meter combo for an overhead service ? I know I need 4/0-4/0-20 for a 200 amp service but don’t know what type of wire to use

Is this sold as a seperate device ? I have a meter can already set, but no outside panel.I understand the inside panel will have to have grounds and neutrals seperated, but I am trying to avoid getting into the top portion of the meter can

Yep when the 2020 and later get adopted there are going to be a world of Huge Changes!!!
@hippo-potamus2 жыл бұрын
So basically the meter combo is pointless if your main interior panel is now considered a sub panel. Might as well just add a separate disconnect box. This new ER disconnect BS by just going to force people to put their main panel box outside or go back to the boxes without plug on neutrals since all interior main panels will now be automatically considered sub panels.
