What is a Mining Pool? A mining pool is a way that cryptocurrency miners can win rewards faster by grouping together to split up the block’s rewards.
Instead of having to wait on average 10 days, for example, they could join a pool of 10 people, changing the average wait from 10 days to 1 day. However, they will also have to split the rewards between all the other miners in the pool. the end was a real example what you would see happening on a mining rig in control of the graphics cards mining. it's just real time "logging" information through a terminal(Windows has something similar called a Command Prompt), instead of a normal GUI like you use for normal computer usage. All servers and such are like this. If you wanted to see more user friendly stuff, you would usually connect to the server via a browser or a program designed for it.

few thousand dollars at THE BARE MINIMUM. mining for profit isn't really done on the individual level anymore, not even with pools. the profit margins are just way too tight now. especially with the chip shortage, inflation and mining hash rate difficulties skyrocketing because of how many miners there are going. it goes up the more miners join the fray because the system is trying to make new blocks at the same average speed, upping the difficulty and security instead of going faster. Which is why many crypto coins have moved to or started on different systems like Proof of Stake(you stake your coins. it's like having coins in a locked and secured savings account) and other systems instead of the energy intensive Proof of Work.
