I love the treasure package! I'm working on a Ziatora deck that I'm calling dead dragons. So lots of dragons to fling with a focus on the Kamigawa dragons to get their dies triggers.

This is not only a cool fun idea, but also a solution to the deciding problem of decision paralysis when it comes to focus and cute weaker cards I want to try. I’ll probably try this with Jarad, who I want to be graveyard-filler or a supernatural-stamina-filled big bois to sac twice in a turn

Excellent! I know some people who have build 3+ decks with the SAME COMMANDER and this concept could save a lot of trouble

I would personally put in cards like Sheoldred the Whispering One and Meren of Clan Neltoth to bring the cards I fling back to the field so I can do it again and again and not have to worry about flinging a card I would rather keep on the field. Then for draw power have Skullclamp and Doom Weaver to draw cards when you fling creatures. And have Terror of the Peaks, Juri Master of Revue, and Kaevrek the Merciless to amp up the number of ways creatures deal damage without the need for attacks or casting Instants or Sorcery cards. Eventually the deck just does the damage for you.

See when I saw modular I first thought of the ability cause when you sack one of the creatures you then move the +1+1 counters to another creature allowing more damage when you sack that one and so on

This is exactly what I've been looking for. I've been searching for Modular EDH decks but it's difficult since most results have to do with the Modular mechanic (and are usually 5-color, I prefer Jund). I love your take on the different 15-card packages with different themes and strategies, sort of reminds me of JumpStart! I'm defiantly going to start building this and working on extra packages: Infect, Aristocrats, Graveyard/Re-animator, Voltron Counters, Dragon Tribal, (maybe Combo???). Thank you so much and I hope you post any new packages or updates to the deck on your Moxfield.

Gonna try this 15 card package idea once I get my hands on my precon of choice, a couple of on-theme packages is a lot easier to come up with than the giant 50 card packages I’ve seen for other modular decks

I did something like this once with Atarka, World Render and Borborygmos Enraged. It was a larger package though. Mostly a difference of cards that ramped lands onto the battlefield versus cards that ramped lands to hand. Otherwise most of the deck was the same with a lot of haste enablers and every variation of Furnace of Rath I could put in the deck.

I found your video a couple months ago and liked it, but never got around to building a deck. I took your modular base and added a 30 card Unfinity package (technically 3 10 card mini packages for stickers, dice and attractions). I don't think it's all that good, but my kids loved it. Chishiro is perfect for this. You can make it into 3 different decks, 1. Aura's, running totem armor and enchantresses. 2. Equipment, running embercleave, swords and panharmonicon. 3. +1/+1 counters, running counter doublers, Avenger of Zendikar and Phylath, Grumgully and Renata.

Before New Capenna I was working on a Sek'Kuar build... Then Riviteers got annouced. At this point I have been bouncing back and forth from Sek'Kuar, Ziatora, Ognis, Korvold with treasure theme, ball lightning theme, jund value reanimator theme... SO I think its best if I do a combination of your modular and commander cycling ideas! :) The base will be the same for all of them, then ill have packages I can swap in (probably 15 card and 30 card packages), and then can ALSO switch out the commander to change the power level of the deck, and play styles. Its going to be challenging, but I think it will work well!

I do this but to lover the decks power, so that if I'm playing against weaker opponents, I can adjust my decks to give them a better chance at winning. I also carry a sideboard for bad match-ups so I'm not going to feel bad knowing I have a slim chance of winning no matter how well I draw.

Ochre Jelly would have been a very nice inclusion in either the copy or the hydra package, since it creates a token with half strength when it dies

Please make more of these. I can never land on a single commander or strategy. I love the idea of modular commander packages, and they fit perfectly with the recently released "Academic" deckbox. I could even see building a modular commander deck with swappable commanders. For example, 5 color alt win.

Yes, I've played with this concept a bit on Twitter. Static 99, but the commander swaps with an on-color legend within the deck each game.

Just tried it out last night and I have to say I'm loving this modular idea. Did not have the treasure package now given the cards for them are pretty expensive. Instead, I added a dragons pack and a double power pack. There's an odd chance moment with Varolz when all the creatures in my graveyard are hydras. Scavenge for zero. lol My LGS didn't have stock for branching evolution so I made do with Corpsejack Menace. Reyhan the last Abzan can be another fun card for that pack, shifting counters around. Persist felt a little clunky with the nonlegendary text, I might swap it out for victimize or dread return, we'll see =) Planning on a standard jund value pack and a go wide pack.

World spine worm is a fantastic card for its cost, burn 15 create 3 5/5 tramples and 3 treasures that's worth the mana imo in a lot of games.

I love this, not only do I want to make this deck in the future, but modular packages solves my “decision paralysis” as Hunter Lund put it. I’ve been stuck on how to exactly upgrade my Sefris deck, the Esper dungeons pre-con. My packages for that will be: -Adventure/dungeons -Aristocrats/reanimation -Self-mill -Cycling and -Acererak bullshit. If I discard 1 creature on every players turn, once per turn cycle I get to reanimated a dude. So I’ve stuck on how to speed that up, just do hard reanimation? Sac outlets? Cycling? Adventure triggers? Mill?

Exactly! And putting together these packages means you can play with variations on a deck and - if you track how cards perform individually and together - you can dial in on a static 100 list eventually and move on to using the cards in packages in other, future decks.

I think a couple cards to add yo one of the packages, probably the Ball Lightning pack, are Forgotten Ancient and Taurean Mauler. Getting +1/+1 for each time storm count increases is nuts for flinging, and while you do have to untap with them, or find a way to give them haste, they can become fantastic targets for a fling after that turn cycle

I wonder what your opinion on Anger or Brawn is in Ziatora. Anger specifically seems like it'd be a great value booster for some of the bigger lads in the Ball Lightning and Hydra packages.

Just a heads up. Deathreap Ritual is a nonbo with the commander since they both go off at beginning of end step.

But it triggers at EACH end step, meaning even if nothing died during your turn (rare) you could still be drawing 4 cards a turn cycle.
