Thank you for this video, Sister Jia Wen. If you ask me, although you've described how an Arahant or a Pratyekabuddha is, I personally believe that if someone achieves the state of Buddhahood, there is a natural tendency for such beings to automatically generate bodhicitta. I mean, it is kind of a self-contradiction that you're working to aspire for Buddhahood and not achieve bodhicitta to help all sentient beings. It's, for me, a contradiction or paradox, if you will, because in Buddhism, the core teachings are designed to help others apart from ourselves, eventually. So, somehow I honestly find it self-contradictory that Pratyekabuddhas would work for their own enlightenment, and as soon as they reach their so-called state of bliss, they would no longer aspire to generate bodhicitta. It doesn't make sense, to be honest, because it's a natural cause and effect. And we all know as Buddhists, we must acknowledge the nature of cause and effect. So, yeah, that's what I think. Thanks.

Yes both arahants and pratyekabuddhas will eventually generate bodhicitta, but it will just take some of them a long time (as described in the sutra) as they have the tendency to dwell in their Nirvana bliss. Amituofo

Which pureland sect are you? Is shin Jodo a good sect? Thanks for answering. I get worried about joining pureland because I really enjoy the depth of the Pali cannon and the other mahayana sutras, not just the pureland sutras, so I get worried about joining pureland because it seems they ignore all the other great works, but I come to your channel and you are pureland but also have clearly rad and studied the other sutras, so I'd like to know which pureland you are from. There is a Jodo shin school nearby I could join, but I want to do more in my practice than just recite amida.
