love your video 3mins full of knowledge , just quick question , why the distance= 2xheight ?
@JxJAVIATION3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! 2xHeight because the radio waves travel towards the ground (1xH) and are reflected towards the aircraft (another H)!

@JxJAVIATION3 жыл бұрын
Its the RA height information from the RA computer

Isn't what you explained a Radar altimeter and not a radio altimeter?
@JxJAVIATION Жыл бұрын
I think we are referring to the same system!
@Chinmaya93 Жыл бұрын
@@JxJAVIATION there's a difference actually, radar altimeter uses the echo principle, just like a normal radar. Radio altimeter uses FMCW, continuous wave, the principle is that rate of change of frequency is constant while flying at a constant height. Transmitted Frequency is varied between 4.2-4.4 Ghz and the reflected signal is at a different frequency than the transmitted one, and since the rate of change of frequency is constant, the difference is proportional to the time taken. Change of freq= Rate of change of freq X time taken. The frequency difference is measured and the time obtained is registered on the indicator as height. Just sharing, as a well wisher, do let me know if this doesn't sound right

error of operation in radio altimeter?
@JxJAVIATION2 жыл бұрын
There could be a system fault or obstructions to the radio waves causing error in the readings.
