So glad I subbed. I've been looking into serious forging for months and this is the first time I've learned about ribbon burners.

You sir and this is not bad in any way Are NOT ocd and this is a good thing. You are classically educated (though doing) and now have a very low tolerance for working with sub par tools. Make do rigs, compromises, and experimentation in the past lead you to be very aware of what works and what does not. My Lifetime blacksmith town founding great grandfather would have been very pleased with what you are doing.

Man you are teaching me so much. I make a lot of stupid jokes but you are very cool for teaching and sharing this stuff for free. Thanks!

This looks like a much better system...are the perforated bricks commercially available? Just for fun, how old is your hat? Looks all used up.

Trenton, do a search on Google for "iforgeiron na ribbon burner". Frosty, one of the senior members from Alaska has done extensive testing and experimenting and has developed a non-aspirated ribbon burner that is easy to tune (relatively) and he posted a step by step of his process. The preceding discussion is excellent. I think you would enjoy the read.

What refractory material do you use for your burner?
@oljames16877 жыл бұрын
..Trenton, is the gas distributed sort of like what the old gas heaters did?? There is a cast iron piece that has multiple holes in it that makes the flame go along the length. Is your Peanut Blade Forge one of the Ribbon Type? Now you have my Full attention and curiosity peaked...!!

Is it true that a ribbon burner uses less gas? How big of a fan do I need?
@JaxMerrick7 жыл бұрын
Would there be the opportunity to just make a manifold to make the distribution channels and attach it to a standard burner? It sound like if you know what you need to make, milling the distribution channels would be easier than buying an entirely new system.

The burner face is exposed, it has to be ceramic

Would the soft fire bricks with holes drill threw them work as diffusers? Maybe even have a bunch in a row with refractory cement glueing them together ?
@JaxMerrick7 жыл бұрын
Cyber Drift That's an even better question than mine, thank you.
