@High_Gain_Pity_Party2 жыл бұрын
well that's not really a fair comparison hah. Chris has been skating for years (probably been through a bunch of nasty slams) so that confidence carries over pretty fast.
@youretotallyrightbut4632 жыл бұрын
You with your experience would learn on a board much faster than the normal new skateboarder too. There’s a lot of carry over between different types of skating, pretty much any great transition skater can look like they’ve been snowboarding for 5+ years in a few days

@Si74l0rd2 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewMoto96 Yeah man, couldn't agree more. To me skating is freedom from everything, including other people's perceptions. At 45 and walking with a stick, I like to see people smile when I'm bombing hills and racing traffic, with one hand on my walking stick and the stick propping up my knackered back leg. Adversity shouldn't stop you doing what you love, and other people's opinions certainly shouldn't! I'm hoping maybe one day there'll be a Paralympic downhill skating or something like that, and I can get sponsored lol. Never give up your dreams, or the things in life that bring you joy. I quit six years ago due to my disability and went on tons of painkillers, but the endorphin dump from skating around, even on flat ground does a better job of relieving pain, and more importantly it buoys my spirit. I'll never be able bodied again, but I've learned that it doesn't need to stop me skating. Getting high on your own supply of endorphins is great for depression too, so everyone should skate, or inline, or roller skate, or BMX, or even scooter (I guess I do still have a little skater prejudice lol). It's exercise but it's fun, and that beats grinding in the gym for a workout that's no fun.

How long does it usually take, I skateboarded for a while years ago and getting to the stage of grinds and gaps took years, for learning inline grinds and say jumping stair sets would you say it takes less time ? @jacobs_quest2 жыл бұрын
@@Shodan130 the more time you spend on skates the more you will progress as long as you are pushing yourself. Just start with balance, turning and just feeling comfortable then practice the basic grinds on a practice box or rail. One big thing i noticed was how rob keeps his knees bent. really seems to make locking in his grind a lot easier compared chris keeping his legs more straight which makes his whole body weight hit the rail at the same time. it looks stiff and probably causes him to bounce off. Maybe its similar to what rob was talking about with "savoring landings" so the upper body doesnt even feel the impact. I learned a lot here and imma def go out and practice.
