Of all the pianos you've ever shown, this would be the one for me. Some individual with $$ is going to b e a very lucky owner. Bless them, and use it in good health!

I could hear the clarity and qualify of this piano even before seeing what it was. Each note is distinct. Magnificent to say the least.

Such a wonderful tone; and so lovingly described. :) Just wonderful. Wish I liked black cases better, so many more to choose from.

I've just recently come to know, two things which are also unique to these Model A's, they have the famous "Steinway Bell" as well as having several wound strings in the Tenor section which "Smooths" the transition to the Bass. I would be so very proud to own this piano or one like it. I'm sure it found a good home and may the new owner of this piano be so very blessed, they got it at a bargain price.

Yes! Steinway should make more of these, in both NY and Hamburg factories.

Hi Robert, very nice, beautiful tone. I recently purchased a 1906 Mason & Hamlin AA which is currently going through a rebuild similar to this Steinway. A question my friends often ask me: if you replace everything in the piano, what’s so special about it being an old vintage piano? Why not buy a new one? I’ve not been able to come up with a good answer for them. Maybe you could do a video which addresses this question?

TimB the rim is such a huge part of the sound. Between the rim and the scale design you have two things that are really only found on this particular type of Piano. Most Pianos have a spruce soundboard, but the rim material has a wider variance in wood type and ply count, separating the Pianos that are worth restoration and the ones that aren't. Also, soundboards have a slight "crown" or very slight rounded shape upward. This crown can settle over decades and severely diminish resonance, thus the need for a new soundboard.

If it has a new rebuilt sound board, won't it change the original sound? I always have the impression that S&S has some secret method and material to build their sound board, thus their distinct sound.

Unless they replaced it with the same wood that's been aged in the forest longer.

Can u please post a video on how much do concert level pianist earn?
@justelynnnjoelle5 жыл бұрын
That's a fairly loaded question. It depends on who and what time frame you're talking about. For example, you may not be able to compare the late Vladimir Horowitz with say a pianist like Lang Lang. Both were/are excellent and virtuosic pianists, however, with advancement in technology and booming industries, Lang Lang might have acquired the same money pool if not more because of this. It all depends on the pianist and the time frame.

New engine? Same car? New soundboard? Same piano?

I still don`t understand why you americans often replace soundboards?? Its mostly no problem to repair them. When you bleach them with H2O2 you don`t even see that there are old and I think the old wood sounds better.
