When there are 6 golf cart batteries which battery do I apply the trickle charger to for winter storage?
@_Lazare21 күн бұрын
In winter Northern months , tie this trickle charger to block heater which ever method you want , when vehicle is plugged in , your oil is warm and battery is up to snuff to start your engine , plus given you a few extra years of battery life

You helped me. I have an RV question: I have a 30 amp and am plugged in yet, my battery went dead when not is use. I assumed (incorrectly) that being plugged in would charge the battery as well. How come this does not happen?
@sunshinejenny7772 ай бұрын
Also, my RV battery is a marine battery & deep cycle so that requires a more powerful trickle charger? Correct? I got a 15 amp one that powers down when the battery is charged. My questions are: is a deep cycle always a marine battery and visa versa? The 2nd question is: should I unconnect it when using the trickle charger?
@qjarman775313 күн бұрын
I heard that you should connect the positive clamp to the battery and the negative clamp to the chassis, is this correct please?
@etrailer4 күн бұрын
It depends on the situation. For a small trickle charger that provides a small amount of amperage, it's acceptable to attach the negative clamp to the negative battery terminal. When jump starting a vehicle, there's much more amperage involved so you'll want to ground the negative clamp to the engine block or chassis. Hope that makes sense....

I've got a question if you see this. If you have a super cheap trickle charger and you're charging a depleted but not dead battery, how long will/can it take. I've had it plugged in now two going on three days, but it is a VERY cheap unit, and it's fairly cold, not north east cold, but still winter. I assume that light will eventually go to green as I have charged a battery with it before, and it took a long time, and that was indoors in a controlled temp.
@etrailer11 күн бұрын
There's too many variables involved to be able to provide a good answer to the length of time it'll take. Assuming the battery is still able to take a charge, it should eventually top off. The cold weather will definitely increase the amount of time needed. Hope that helps!

@@etrailer Thank you for responding, I had a dead alternator and needed to get the car to the shop on all battery. Five days on and it never did turn green, but it did make it to the mechanic quite well, and now I'm good to go again. Cheers.

When you say "rate," do you mean at line voltage but with minimum amps?

How much power does it use? Will it be enough to notice a change in electric bill cost wise?

Thanks so much, excellent video and explanations. So I have a "AIMTOM Smart Battery Charger 4 Amp 6/12V Fully Automatic Maintainer 8-Stage Charging" that I use to charge my class B RV. I need to keep battery charged because when someone installed a rearview camera, they failed to tell me it would always be "on", thereby causing the RV battery to discharge after a while. I just connected the charger to the battery after about a couple of weeks of not using it - I selected "SLA" and "car" and it reads "PON" and does not change to anything else. What does PON mean, please? Many thanks!
@etrailer8 ай бұрын
The PON code you're reading indicates that the battery is in standby mode, and the charger is checking the current and voltage. You'll want to contact Aimtom directly for more info as we don't carry their chargers.

What amp NOCO Genius triclke charger is best for a 12V AGM battery? Currently have a 1A one, but battery voltage is at 12.3V. Will a higher Amp charger push it over 12.6V?
@mtbuvk48942 ай бұрын
Puuurrdy sure the Nocos are smart enough to shut off when fully charged and back on when it drops. I've got a 2A Noco charger that I just leave connected to a AGM battery all winter. Haven't killed a battery so far except for when I left it disconnected from the charger for like 6 months in freezing temps.

Question can I leave it on charger plugged in for a few months?
@etrailer5 ай бұрын
In most cases, a trickle charger can be left in place for months on end, such as over the winter, but you'll want to check the owner's manual for the charger you're planning on using. If you'd like to reply and tell me about the battery you're using, and what you're using it for, I can get into further specifics for you....

Can I start my car with the trickle charger plugged in and the negative and positive is connected to the battery
@rednuts903 Жыл бұрын
I hope you know by know that that is a big no…
@sconnerАй бұрын
Yes, you can. I have four trickle chargers of various brands on motorcycles. I start them all the time with the chargers hooked up. If the battery was low and charging, the charge light simply turns off because with the engine running it’s proving more voltage and the charger simply thinks the battery is fully charged. Won’t hurt them in the least. Same as hooking a charger to a full battery.

Can you use a trickle charger that is for a lead acid battery on an AGM battery ?
@etrailer8 ай бұрын
You'll want to check with the manufacturer of the charger, I couldn't say without knowing the make and model number of the charger you're using.

Thanks fir your video. Can anyone answer: Does plugging my fifth wheel into 20 amp in my garage power charge my battery?
@etrailer Жыл бұрын
If you use a battery charger, yes. The best charger will depend on how many house batteries you have on your 5th wheel. Here's a link to suitable chargers: www.etrailer.com/dept-pg-Battery_Charger-pt-RV%7CCamper-hs-12V-sz-Wall_Outlet_to_Vehicle_Battery.aspx
@Codbeast1017 ай бұрын
2 amps will charge your fifth wheels battery, it will just take a while. Most car batteries are 48 amp-hours, at 2 amps it would take you 24 hours to fully charge that battery. At 20 amps, it would take about 2 and a half hours.

Jake was using the NOCO Genius # 329-GENIUS2 smart battery charger which is excellent for keeping 6 or 12V batteries topped off while they're in storage. You can check it out by using this link: www.etrailer.com/Battery-Charger/NOCO/329-GENIUS2.html

There’s nothing of any depth to learn, it’s literally just a car charger at 2 amps instead of 10 amps. 🤷♂️
