The UART was invented in the 60's when nobody thought about USB, Microcontrollers, Cellular, WiFi, .... It was a large board FULL with components. Later it was a 40 pin 0.6" wide DIP programmed with external jumpers.

I remember the ports we used to connect the mouse back in the 90s. 😬

Thank you so much for this video. This is the best explanation of this subject on youtube. It has really helped me to understand how it is applied to the flight controller.

So what's the purpose of the UART ports on the bottom of my TX16S? What would I use them for? And how would I go about doing that?

UART is a slang term for a self portrait. Soft serial is mainly what old blokes get...

I have had a very difficult time getting my flight controllers to consistently connect to my computer using the UART connection on the FC board. Very frustrating and I dont know why it is so difficult to establish the connection. Maybe it is old technology that needs an upgrade

Can't beat the old UART way of connecting stuff. I don't like CAN bus, all to easy for one device to fail and drag the whole network down with it. Modern cars are prone to that, one fault can bring half the cars electronics down by corrupting the bus. Long live the UART.

Do you read minds or why do you upload a video about ports a day after I tried to figure it out?
