to show my student the verb importance in a sentence, I compare it to potato when it is supposed to be harvested. ;)

The title is "What is a verb?" but the lecture doesn't answer the question. It categorises verbs in the traditional way and describes how they change form, but it doesn't tell us what a verb IS.
