Honestly its no different than getting another old router (doesn't have to be the same brand) and manually configuring it to provide you with extended wi-fi coverage. I try the aimesh setup with an RT-AC5300 as main router and RT-AX58U as mesh router and honestly I didn't get reliable connection. Just for some info, the main router was in the basement while the "mesh" router was hooked up with an Ethernet back-haul. While the setup was easy, the reliability was so-so. I had my smart TV setup right next to the mesh router and would constantly get dropped signal. It doesn't matter which signal I was using (2.5ghz or 5ghz) the signal would frequently drop. Never had this problem before when I had a different router configured as the extended wifi AP using the old ways. Just saying this is nothing more than a fancy wifi extender setup using the same branded router. Great marketing idea though!

Can I AirMesh two AC5300 Asus routers? I have one now but can buy another one inexpensively and need to know it will airmesh. Would appreciate your comments on this. Thanks!

Please help on how to tweak the router to switch to another router at a given signal level. For me while moving from one corner to another in house, specially in android phone, the network drops completely, goes to 4G, and then switches to another router, leading to call going on hold or getting dropped.

Hi. In my house I have got an ASUS RT-AC86U Wi-Fi AC2900 but the connection upstairs is very poor. I have an wifi extender wish doesn't really hold the connections well. What would be the best ai Mesh system to connect with that router? Perhaps the ASUS ZenWiFi AX Mini (XD4)? Thank you.

You're saying it because...... They pay you to say it :-) 4 network ports is crazy these days. I just returned my Netgear NightHawk X6 R8000 because it would not show my IP Cameras in the connected devices (wired) Does the Asus show ipcams in the connected devices list so we can reconnect them? I notice you also had wireless cameras.. How good is the wifi connection on those??

Hey Deano, just to be clear I wasn't paid for the video and they didn't review any of the footage before it went live. I 100% though depending on your use 4 ports is not enough. Also, that particular router is more captured for "gamers". They might have a computer connected to it and maybe a console or TV. I have moved away from 4 ports to 8 ports as I wanted everything cabled in my house. I could get away with 4 ports which I had with most things using 2.4 or 5. I have 4 IP cameras connected, though it's connected via an NVR so I can expand it easier. Ive also got 2 WYZE wireless cameras and one XIAOMI in the far backyard and have no issues. I'm currently running a single router and I find that covers most of the house. There are some low points but are enough for mobile use. Im supposed to be receiving 4 Asus RT-AC68U routers to perform AIMesh in my home.. Would you recommend doing the setup using powerline adapters? The cable modem is located in the basement in my bro's home. I just have one power line adapter connected to the modem and the rest of the adapters are plugged throughout the rest of the house including my room, workstation, and first floor. The powerline adapters im using are the TP-Link Av1200 3 port power line adapters.

Not required if you going to have 4 AC68U. more than sufficient.

Prince BT well I experimented with those routers and it turned out that only the true AC68U is the Rock solid one but the other AC1900 ones from TMobile that were flashed to the Asus Rt-AC68u firmware are very unstable. Two of them updated themselves to the latest firmware and broke the AiMesh. So I'm selling the T-Mobile ones and keeping the true AC68U.

No. only work with Asus (AIMESH enabled product) not all asus product as well.
