You either align yourself with daughter of the devil Ellen White, or you are not a genuine Adventist demonic cultist. Ellen White would hammer Khoe and publicly shame him and proclaim God has shown her Khoe is an imposter. A wannabe Adventist- a wannabe Jew, and a wannabe Christian. That’s a lot of wannabe.

It’s not Adventism. Pope Ellen would rebuke him publicly and shame him. He’s a liar who publicly stated he never heard of Ellen until he was 18, despite having an Adventist grandfather pastor leading people to eternal hell, and a Adventist worker mother. He tries to run from his pope. You are not a Christian

Adventists are so far from perfect. A problem for them because daughter of the devil Ellen White pontificated all Adventists must become perfect and stand before God without mediator. Ellen chastised Adventists for being slow becoming perfect because Jesus can not return until Adventists prove Mosaic law can be perfectly kept just like Jesus. This supposedly vindicates God. It’s heresy and laughable error. Adventists are clowns in the Adventist big top circus.

I’m late to this series (& have been watching them out of sequence). I wasn’t going to watch this episode because I thought that I probably wouldn’t be able to relate to a KZbinr! But, oh boy! I’m so glad that I watched it (FOMO)! 😂😂 These video/podcasts have been so enlightening for me! I now need to revisit Romans 6! As I watch each episode, I keep thinking to myself, “These guys should have a group discussion and melding of minds with Justin, Tim, Timothy, Myles and Randy. They all seem to represent what ‘Adventism’ should be, corporately!” Yes, even Myles… 😊 That might be a logistical nightmare, but it would be such an interesting discussion. Thank you for this. I really appreciated this. Thank you, Justin.

I appreciate Justin’s determination to share the true gospel of Christ. As most of you on the panel, I also was raised SDA. Educated in SDA schools, baptized at 10 along with others in my fifth grade class. I’ve spent the past 60 years immersed and being spoonfed SDA doctrines largely based on the writings of Ellen White. I was raised in a “bubble of Adventism”. Adventism is more than just a religion, it is a culture, it is a lifestyle, and if followed correctly (i.e. adhering strictly to the writings of the prophet), will seek to influence and control every area of your life. What you think, what you eat, what you wear, what you read, your entertainment and sports, your friends, etc. etc. etc. I am a product of that control and I’m finding it very difficult to break free. I am hesitant to use the word brainwashed, but I will say that I was heavily influenced by the church’s teachings. Some of you may be able to relate if you have been raised in a conservative, legalistic Adventist home. I have also, like some of you, recently discovered the true gospel that was delivered to the apostles. Realizing it was not what I was taught, I embarked on a two-year study of the 28 doctrines of the church, setting aside Ellen White, and using the Bible alone. I have found that not all of the doctrines agree with what Ellen White taught. So I then had to delve deeper into her writings to see if she indeed contradicts the Bible. I was very saddened to realize that indeed she does. At times she also contradicts herself. I know, there are many, like myself, who have discovered the inconsistencies and errors in her writings and in the 28 beliefs. But we find ourselves in an uncomfortable dilemma, because where else is there to go to worship and fellowship on Sabbath? Many ask themselves that question. The options are few. That is the reason so many Adventists stay in the church, choose not to read Ellen White’s writings, ignore the investigative judgment and try to share the true gospel, etc. etc. I do not believe the church will ever change its beliefs and admit that they got some things wrong. Because to do so, would be to deny the writings of the prophet, and that would be the end of the SDA church. Like it or not, the church stands or falls with belief that Ellen White was, not only inspired, but that her writings are equal to, and in some cases, trump the Scriptures. A person cannot reject the writings of Ellen White, the teaching of the investigative judgment and the “Remnant Church“ theology and remain a true Adventist. Adventism at it’s core is a monolith. The GC and official church doctrines are what define what the church believes. That is Adventism. Justin commented that the Adventist church is the most diverse denomination in Christianity. The fact that there are so many people believing different things, teaching different gospels and not following the churches (prophet’s) teachings, just proves that the Adventist church is in a state of confusion. It’s a mess and it’s not getting better. It’s getting more confused as more and more people discover the errors and inconsistencies in the doctrines. The teachings are determined from the top down, not from the bottom up. If you do not believe every one of the 28 fundamental beliefs, you cannot call yourself a true Adventist. There is only one Adventism, and it is defined by those beliefs. True Adventists do not accept the Bible as their only creed. The beliefs of the church were formed by the “pen of inspiration“ each one had to have the stamp of approval by Ellen White as she received visions and dreams and direct “inspiration from God”. The fact that many Adventists consider her writings to be equal with the Scriptures is consistent with her own testimonies about them. This is why I do not believe a person can consider themselves an Adventist without believing, and following, the writings of Ellen White, and without believing in the investigative judgment which denies the true gospel of Christ. I do not hold out much hope that the church will ever change its position on those two issues.

It is mostly correct about what you said. But, I encourage you to leave. The Seventh-Day Baptists are a real option if you feel so inclined to observe the Seventh-Day Sabbath. However, please understand it is better to go to a Sunday observing Church that is faithful to the Gospel, than a denomination that clearly preaches a false Gospel. I realized that the doctrines of soul sleep and sabbath worship were not biblical, so it has been easier for me to leave for genuine Christianity.

Justin what would your position on the Investigative Judgement be as Dr Ford has taken the position the IJ fl ys in the face of the gospel ? I was brought up SDA but have Joined the Anglican Church . The Adventist Church uses much of Anglican Hymns and Ellen copied much from Anglican writers. The Anglican church follows very much like the records we have of church fathers such as Justin in 150ad being the reading of the old and new testiament then the president speaking on those sacred things .

1:16:20 I get what Justin is saying when he says the community--from the bottom up--get to define Adventism. But right now, the bottom up IS conservative, Ellen White-reading Adventism. If I were an Adventist today I would be exactly your kind of Adventist. I relate very much to Justin. However, when the SDA church is growing in S. America and Africa, you have a bottom-up majority Adventism that is very traditional. Are you saying they get to define it?
@chisomonthulane5920
@chisomonthulane5920 11 ай бұрын
Oh wow...that is a very good question! As someone from South Africa where the majority of SDA churches are conservative, Ellen White-reading communities that are indeed very traditional I don't know how I missed that aspect while listening to this episode. While there is nothing wrong with reading Ellen White (I do every now and again) but I have seen the kind of conservatism that comes packaged with doing so, to a point where it actually does repel others and obstruct the beautiful picture of the gospel. And if Adventism is indeed defined from the bottom up like Justin suggests then that can be concerning in terms of how or what others perceive Adventism to be.

@@umabrijmohun6720 I'm sorry that was your experience so much so that it made you doubt your faith and made you feel you had no choice but to leave Adventism because it was such a stumbling block for you. I, myself, grew up in a very conservative church in Pretoria where Ellen White was quoted even more than the Bible. I'll tell you something...Ellen White is not the problem. She herself said she is the lesser light who points to the Greater Light (ie. Jesus) and she also did say if any of her writings don't agree with the Bible you can simply put her work aside and follow the Bible alone. We are a Bible-believing people after all and we stand on sola scriptura. As I've grown in my faith, what I've come to understand is that people within the church (and I can only speak from a South African perspective as that is what I know and have experienced) have misunderstood the rightful place of Ellen White and her writings in relation to the Bible, her writings are not to supersede it. There is a particular brand of legalism coupled with arrogance that I've seen sprout up from those who hold EGW at the same level as the Bible and I think that is horrific. But again, EGW is not the problem, it's people's misunderstanding of where to place her writings that is. I attend a church here in Joburg that rarely ever mentions EGW and it has been refreshing being part of a community that is truly loving and focuses on the Bible, funny enough being part of it has made me want to read EGW's writings for myself and dig deeper into what the Bible says. The beautiful thing about Adventism is that we're not a monolith (as Justin mentioned in the video), we all tend to agree on the main facets of the faith but one can differ on aspects that don't have salvific value and still remain in the church or call themselves Adventist. This is a faith that is ever-increasing in knowledge of God's word and even with its shortcomings, I don't think I would ever leave because I'm not there for people, I'm there because of Jesus.

The GC should define what an Adventist is. If the official SDA body is wrong on what an Adventist is, and only the liberal Adventists get to define it, then you have anarchy. Pin the tale on the donkey. Go watch the 4th episode with the former SDA, where he talks about this same thing. Adventism is not what you want it to be. It is a system of theology. If the official SDA Church organization is now not allowed to define what the group actually believes, then your group is Babylon, plain and simple. Confusion.

@@mmtoss6530 I was a liberal Adventist BECAUSE I thought many of the SDA doctrines were not in scripture. I wanted to remain Adventist--so I just created my own Adventism so I could stay. While these young men say they remain in "tension" between following God and following Adventism, I simply saw it as cognitive dissonance and hypocrisy. So I finally had to leave--which I hated with all my heart. As I look back into Adventism as an older and wiser person, I see that it doesn't really work for a church to allow everyone to follow what is true in their own heart, not having any definitive meaning to "Adventist." The SDA church is preaching an everlasting gospel that is unique to their church alone. To discard that and attempt to be mainline Protestant is actually a good thing. I hope Adventism does exactly that. But to allow Adventism to be defined by the Adventist means a complete disintegration of the church. What these men are doing is starting a new denomination. Which I applaud but they need to clearly understand what they are doing and not deceive themselves.

Is justification dependent upon us confessing every known sin past and present? How do we respond to the conditional aspect of 1John 1:9? Some say in order to be justified we must: 1. accept Christ 2. repent of our sins 3. forsake our sins 4. confess our sins to God 5. ask God to forgive our sins 6. be baptized 7. go and sin no more To me, that sounds like salvation by works. There's room to argue with my logic, sure - but it goes as follows: Your Gospel is your identity. If, for whatever reason, you preach the Gospel to Muslims from within - are you not a more effective witness when you publicly identify as a Christian within a Muslim community, as opposed to a Muslim who believes in Jesus (aka. an imposter).
