Hi, yes, you can do it. However, you have to place the app on Microsoft App Store, and there you have to list it. For more information, you can refer Microsoft documents. Recently, they have made a lot of changes.

Question, lets say i created a welcome page on one report that contains multiple pictures that act as bookmarks to other reports on the APP. now, lets say i finished loading those other reports to the app. is there a way to link those pictures (bookmarks from the Welcome page) to the other reports on the app so that when i click on one of those pictures, its just takes me to that specified report on the app?
@BIConsultingPro Жыл бұрын
Yes, you can do this. However, there is no out of the box functionality. You can create a simple report page where you'll have all those icons. Then you can link them with the respective pages. Also, you can try simply adding links or a section.

User-B wants to have access just to dashboards Y and Z. Cause from my understanding for cases like this we need to make more "Create App". Or any other solution that is faster than "Create App" for this case? Thank you.

This is not a paid feature. You need to go to the Power BI portal. Go to the apps and then on the right-hand side, top corner you'll find a yellow button named "Get Apps". Just click on it.

Curious, what is the benefit of creating an app as opposed to providing workspace access .
@BIConsultingPro2 жыл бұрын
Glad to know that you are interested in it. If you have worked in this field, by the time you should know the benefits. For example, if you have multiple reports, you don't want to share individual report links. Secondly, it's easy to maintain security in an app rather than on a report. Also, you can integrate external or internal documents, pages, or different sections within an app. Last but not least, it's a best practice to share reports always via app to the end-users. I hope this answers your question.

@@BIConsultingPro Thanks for responding. Our company seperates its reports by department (its a fairly small company of 700 with 6 departments) . My predeeccsor set up a workspace/ rls setup which seems to work. We handle security through office 365 /rls which allows us to create AD user groups for workspace access. I'm debating on switching to apps as i like the idea of including ready made documentation. Does RLS still work with Apps? IE can i assign a particular app to an AD user group

Is there is a way to create subsections of pages within a report in PowerBI Apps? For example, I have a report that consists of 15 tabs. Is separating them into individual dashboards/reports and adding them to a report the only way to have sections and groups?

To troubleshoot shoot I did normal page refresh then it shows data. Is it common behavior of power bi app? Please help me to understand.

Please do the following: 1) Delete the app 2) Refresh all the reports 3) Publish again. PS: no, it's not a common behavior but sometimes it happens because of your browser or bug in power bi service.

Once you will update app or create an app, you will get to a section where you have to add email address or AD groups of the users. This means you are allowing those users access on that report. This is what permission is. For more information, please check this link: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-create-distribute-apps

Hi, no you should not do anything separately. You can do the following: Note: To create or update an app, you need a Power BI Pro or Premium Per User (PPU) license 1) Check your permissions first on the workspace 2) Logout and login in to Power BI Service, and check now 3) Ask Power BI Admin if the problem still persisits

At 9:30 in the video, I see that you are on the Demo- Crash Course report and in that view, there is an "export" option in the upper left corner of the view. Is there a way to prevent the end user from exporting the underlying data? My settings for my report in the "Export data" section of the setting is "Choose the type of data you allow your end users to export = None", but that doesn't seem to affect what a person viewing the app can export. Any ideas? Thanks.

Yes, you can. You need to go to the current report settings and then select 3rd option i.e., don't allow end users user to export any data from the service or Report

How can I share apps with people who don't have power BI at all?
@BIConsultingPro2 жыл бұрын
You can either have a Power BI capacity-based license or you can use Power Automate to get the first subscription to yourself and then forward the report to others or you can use PowerBI Roboto automation too.

@@BIConsultingPro Thanks for the response. It looks like I will have to upgrade to premium per capacity then. I have a power bi premium per user license. Per capacity is so expensive though. QUICK Q: how can I edit the sample data used in Power BI template App?
@BIConsultingPro2 жыл бұрын
Once you installed one templated app, it would create a workspace for you. Go to app page, and click on the three dots, and click on edit button. This would take you to the workspace. Now, you can download the file, and edit it. However, it would prompt you to connect with your data as well, so that if you would like to connect with your dataset or data source, you can do it.
