I couldn't help but notice the signed photo of the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld behind you... Epic.

Outstanding! How do I install this spinner AND the track ball into a 412 to 1.
@RetroactivearcadeCa4 жыл бұрын
Trackball needs to b connected with a specific trackball & harness and the spinner will be hit or miss, I am leaning toward miss as I have never tried it. It would have to be USB or some kind of DIY fix to make it work. I am not saying it won't work but there is no real direct plug and play option for that. You will have to do some research online in some forums. A good place to start is arcadecontrolsforum.com.

How do they translate it in the computer you mentioned mouse; is it only left to right or up and down, how do set it for one or another what software do you use? If you had two on a custom set up it seems very useful to have an automatically locked left to right or up and down for drawing software like s digital etchasketch. Can you set them up for any other input? Maybe like a rapid button tap? Can you use a track ball as a mouse input?

Everything depends on what you are using the Trackball or Spinner for. If you are using "MAME" then the control functions can be set in the menu of MAME. You can set what directions you want any controller to go, they will be set in an X,Y or Z axis. You will also have the option to set the input as a keyboard or mouse, choose mouse for anything other than a keyboard or arcade encoder such as an I-Pac.

Will this spinner work on a Game Elf card? If yes, do yo have a wiring diagram?

I understand that the spinner can be easily connected even under the mini pac ( It's a bit weak that the cable is so short) ? What is the difference between a fully-fledged trackball and the video from a cheap tackball to a ps2, I have a cheap trackball and I do not know if it makes sense to spend on a full-fledged trackball ?
@RetroactivearcadeCa5 жыл бұрын
Yes the UTrak will work with a mini pac as it will with most Ultimarc products. The cable is way too short but you can buy an extension which is lame for sure. The difference is night and day, the USB trackball is a higher quality by far! The choice to upgrade is based off of your need for one. Remember that the USB trackballs are 3" which is a lot larger than the one you have.

@@RetroactivearcadeCa I understand that the better solution will be to move Ipac than buying a cable So I suspected + that from what I know is trackball on usb you can change the colors and turn off so that it does not light up all the time and it is missing in my, that the sphere is bigger it can be seen at a glance hmm Thank you for a quick reply. Regards ;)

If I purchase the spinner what comes with it
@RetroactivearcadeCa3 жыл бұрын
Nothing, you have to buy the USB adapter with it if you want to use the USB connection. Otherwise it plugs directly into the ipac2 or ultimate I/O from Ultimarc. You will also have to buy the topper and flyweight separately.

Shame they don't make *standalone USB spinner and trackball peripherals* for "the average Joe" who just wants to plug 'n' play some mame games. They have every other type of USB controller though. I did get a cheap small 4.5cm trackball and PS/2 USB adaptor. I just set it on my desk or hold it in my hand. Fun but Not the same though. It needs a weighted case or something. I'm not a carpenter though.
@robertquail53563 жыл бұрын
they do make a standalone for the trackball now. I got one. Atgames makes it. It's called the legends pro. You get the trackball and the joysticks. I was thinking about making a standalone spinner using old joystick bases.
@janX93 жыл бұрын
@@robertquail5356 yeah, it's pretty cool. Still not it's own peripheral unfortunately.

@@janX9 The trackball would be an easy project for me to do. It's the spinner that I think will give me the most problem. When I said a joystick something small. I am thinking about making these for sale but only if it works. So I have my fingers crossed.
@janX93 жыл бұрын
@@robertquail5356 oh cool. I hope it works out for you. Yeah, I want a spinner next. I'm kind of a peripheral junkie. I have so many different types of controllers. NES, SNES, Genesis, Saturn, GameCube, N64, DualShock, steering wheel, guitar, arcade controls, VR etc... I've got more on my list LOL

I'm confused. It looks like the usb cable is backward. USB-A and USB-B are reversed. I don't have a port on my computer for that, but I do on my printer. Just not sure why I would plug a spinner to my printer.
@craigb7992 Жыл бұрын
@John Windberg U-HID makes the interface boards and are distributed worldwide by Ultimarc and Retro Active Arcade is Canadian reseller. The U-HID nano board (3 versions - Spinner, Trackball, Button Gamepad) connects to a mini USB B and other end to host computer (Raspberry Pi/PC) with standard USB A. No std USB B printer port was harmed (or used) in filming this video. I constructed my own using an Arduino Micro Pro micro-controller and DIY spinner and/or 3" Arcade trackball. It interfaces to a Quadrature device (spinner/trackball) similar to Ultimarc boards. Cost and DIY handiness (or plug-n-play laziness) all resort to your retro-build adventure. Yah, I wrote the HID software interface via the DIY Retro Arcade community.

How would i install 2 usb spinners on an existing 2 player button and joystick kit for each player for games like pong etc?

As long as you are using a mame setup the process it the same for each spinner
