Are IMSI catchers used to remote in to a person's phone?

an IMSI catcher is used as a cell tower spoofer and the hacker needs to be in the middle of you and the nearest cell tower. Mobile phones are dumb and connect to the strongest compatible signal. an IMSI can capture unencrypted communications such as SMS, cellular calls, and parts of the unencrypted protocol the phone uses to connect to a cell tower such as the SIM IMSI number. They are not used to hack the actual mobile device unless the hackers was sophisticated enough to build an extremely capable and expensive IMSI catcher. The official device that intelligence uses is called a Stingray and according to documentation they have the ability to push spyware to mobile devices.

@efani A year and a half ago I was living in my car with my dog. I was harassed by the police. They ended taking everything from me. I really pissed them off after I realized what was going on. They ran me out of town. I tried to go back home but it was a trap. They tried to set me up. They were in my phone and tried to drain my battery so I couldn't use the camera on my phone. It was so scary.

Advanced IMSI catchers apply to LTE and 5G. There are many research reports that go deep into the vulnerabilities of LTE/GG, including vulnerabilities of different carriers, iPhone vs Android, phone models and more. Also, SS7/Diameter and DNS can be vulnerable. SS7 is still the most widely used signaling and while an LTE carrier may use Diameter for their network, roaming uses SS7 for networks to talk to each other globally. The majority of the world also uses 3g/2g so anyone who travels is vulnerable.
