I have light perception and people still call me totally blind. On one hand I kind of understand, but on the other hand I think that I can still see at least something as some people can be in total darkness. What is your oppinion?

Macular degeneration is one of the leading causes of vision loss in the U.S. Whether or not the person is considered legally blind can only be determined by a qualified health care professional who would measure the person's acuity and field of vision to see if it meets the legal definition. However, yes, many people with macular degeneration are legally blind.
