Not attaining the Bodhi moving up,and not benefitting sentient beings moving down. It is impossible then for the good root to mature,difficult to repent for evil karma accumulated through kalpa of gratitude and grudge. Ch'an master Che Wu said whoever's practices to really end the cycle of birth and death is generating the Bodhi mind. He/She give rise to deep faith and Vow while holding the name of Amitabha. "Namo Amitabha" 🙏🙏🙏

What's Fa Puti Xing? (Bodhi Mind) When the mind give rise to the thought "I want to seek rebirth into Western Pure". I vow to help all sentient beings. This is Bodhi Mind. The greatest Bodhi Mind is to vow rebirth into Western Pure Land. When a person vows rebirth into Western Pure Land, immediately a lotus flower inscribe with your name will grow in the pond of seven jewels in Western Pure Land. The color and size of your lotus will depend on how diligent and sincere one's practice chanting Amituofo. The more diligent and sincere, the color of the lotus will be brighter and the lotus will grow bigger. The moment the person gives up chanting Amituofo, the flower will wither and die. Only lotus in the pond of seven jewels has birth and death. These lotus are planted by practitioners. How do we know our lotus is growing well in Western Pure Land? A radiance appearance on a person tells the lotus is doing well, whereas a dull appearance tells the lotus is not so healthy. 🙏🙏🙏

Does eating meat mean you don’t have bodhicitta?
@sherry3099
@sherry3099 Жыл бұрын
If you are eating meat, then you are paying someone to confine and kill animals. This causes them great terror and pain. Animals are fellow sentient beings who have Buddha Nature just like humans. Eating meat therefore stifles the seeds of compassion and is not in alignment with generating bodhicitta.

In Mahayana sutras, the Buddha did say eating meat can kill the bodhicitta of a person, so that's why Bodhisattvas should refrain from consuming meat, as all sentient beings have been our past parents/mothers/brothers (but the Buddha did not prohibit consuming meat because the Sangha was going for alms realm, so they should receive whatever food they are being given, also in Mahayana sutras, the Buddha said those meat that they ate were all transformed by the Buddha, not just ordinary meat. Buddha only allowed meat if you met these three conditions: didn't kill the animal Didn't ask it to be killed for you Didn't see it be killed

Hello Jiawen, Where are you located? I have studied Buddhism and I don't find it very satisfactory to the most basic human questions. I find that as humans we all have a free will to chose right and wrong. We have all chosen to do wrong, yet you talk about going to the Pure Land. No human makes it to the Pure Land (as you call it), because if you entered such a place, it would no longer be pure. I never understand from your teaching "Just How Good Do You Have To Be to enter the Pure Land?" the concept seems very nebulous to me. I only find hope in the teachings of Jesus from the Bible. The Bible is a "historical book" that looks at the human condition as it really is. We have a real Jesus, that gets hung on a Roman cross to pay the price for the sins of the world. We have the Old Testament scriptures that prophecy of a Jewish Messiah coming to redeem humanity. Jesus fulfills more than 300 of those prophecies, take Isaiah 53 and Isaiah 9:6 for example. Thank You!

Amituofo many people Nianfo, seen Amitabha Buddha and went to the Pure Land. You need to have faith vow and Nianfo to go to the Pure Land, which is outside the cycle of Samsara. It's okay you don't believe it but many people do. Amituofo

That's moreso the point of the Pure Land. As humans, we are slaves to our bodies desire. We lust, we hunger, we thirst. We seek pleasures and distractions. We seek vices to distract us from our inherent suffering. Only through great practice and meditation can you overcome these desires, but this is not something everyone can do. It required dedicating your entire life (or more often, several lifetimes) to the sole practice of meditation and studying the Buddhas teachings. The Pure Land is a way for all sentient beings to attain enlightenment. In the Pure Land, we are given new bodies free from desire, and all our negative urges will be suppressed. Amitabha Buddha spent countless kalpas generating positive merit. We share in this merit when we arrive in the Pure Land, and we are in the presence of fully enlightened beings, so therefore it remains pure regardless of who is born into it. Saying a human can corrupt the Pure Land is like saying a single atom of oil can pollute the ocean. As for Jesus, there are many issues with him being truly divine. The jews themselves did not believe he fulfilled the messianic prophecies, and the muslims believe that while he was the messiah, he did not die for the sins of the world and he was not divine. There are no historical records of him ever being crucified, and the bible itself is not a "historical book". It's myth and legend with bits of history sprinkled in. The existence of free will are a big philosophical debate, and the concept of "original sin" means that even if we had free will, we would be compelled to sin regardless. So is it really free will? Also, Monotheistic religions have this big issue called "the problem of evil". If there truly is an all powerful, all loving God, then why does he allow us to suffer? Either he can't stop suffering, and therefore he is not all powerful. Or, he can stop suffering but chooses not to, and therefore he is evil. The Buddha realized this, and the Buddhist explanation for why we suffer is the only one that truly makes sense when you look at it closely. The Buddha also spoke of many things that, if he was not an enlightened being, he should not have known. The concept of emptiness is one of the core foundations of modern quantum physics. The Buddha spoke of multiple worlds, galaxies and universes at a time when all people believed the Earth was all there was to creation. Meanwhile, abrahamic religions believe that Earth is the only world with life on it, and humans the only mortal beings God created. Now go look at a picture of the Hubble Deep Field, and see if you can still believe that is true. The Buddha knew the true nature of the world, and unlike with the Bible which is filled with contradictions and inaccuracies, it is near impossible to find any contradictions or incorrect statements in his words.
