I found my way to rhum Agricole by way of the bbc show Death in Paradise. Loved the setting, took a trip to Guadeloupe where the show was filmed, and in turn fell in love with the rhum (and the food and islands in general). In the US, I only see rhums from Martinique, but Longueteau and Damoiseau from Guadeloupe should definitely not be overlooked if you can find them

I've read in more than one place that Demerara rum is made with juice, not molasses. Are these articles incorrect?

Yup, totally. As far as I know...except for any side small projects... Guyana, or rather Demerara Rum (which has the GI...not "Guyana") is 100% Molasses based rum! In fact, I've never ever heard of Juice being distilled in Guyana!

Just had a daiquiri with Clement 40 and it oddly reminded me of a margarita. The Rhum definitely gives me some of that tequila funk vibes.

I think 2 weeks in (for me…filming I’m 2 weeks ahead) I’ve really found the love for the 50% Blancs. Such different beasts.
