Good video! A while back i was considering modifying my cars tail lights to have sequential turn signals. I built this circuit but the build never got past the breadboard. Now im looking back at this design for my diy garden irrigation circuit. I am planning a long delay counter circuit to keep watering limited to daytime only, a decade counter to isolate individual rows in my garden, and shorter timers to water short intervals, (eg. 2 minutes every hour). Your video is a great refresher, thank you!

I suggest adding a capacitor to the powerrails so the timer doesn't accidentally skip one. I added a 100uF electrolytic capacitor and haven't had any issues when I did.

Ver well n clear explanation. Sir plz tell me,is it possible to revarse its O/P sequence, say insted of counting OP-0 > OP-1> OP-2> OP 3, and so on,I want it will count, OP-4 > OP-3> OP-2> OP 1, > OP-0. ??

Is making an led chaser with more than 10 leds as simple as connecting carry pin to clock pin of a second 4017 counter?

Yes,but you will get one pulse for each carry from the first 4017 to the second 4017. 10:1.

depends upon supply voltage if 5v supply then 5v if 12v then 12v

@@casper8092 yeah, everyone is telling about pins, making chasers but nobody is telling or showing about the max output amp ratings. But after so much research i get only one result where it says 10mA but not mentioned if it's total ic rating or just a single pin rating

NO need to connect a resistor for every LED, just connect one Led between pin 8 and the last LED cathode.
