I mean, Caboose is smarter and stronger than most give him credit for. He could carry a bomb not even Tex could carry, he’s repaired numerous vehicles including a Mantis, and was a Harvard Graduate who seemingly only is as dumb as he seems to be due to oxygen deprivation caused by a his helmet being damaged.

The whole talking to yourself and acting it out thing is perfectly normal for a lot of writers. It just looks strange from an outsider's perspective, but in fact it just helps keep the details together in the writer's mind and they can break down what needs to change and what works.
