I know DAMN well what a compressor is and exactly what it does but for some reason I still watch these videos every time they pop up. Something really comforting about them

There is something in the primal brain including hearing.... Whatever you did in the past was correct, since you are still alive, rehashing something you already know is similar... Comforting and satisfaction

Seriously! Especially Geoff Manchester’s tutorials. That guys could make a whole video about how I’m a stupid idiot and how much my music sucks and I’d still watch it 😂

One of the best explanations of a compressor that I have seen yet - thanks a lot :) :)

The visuals help hammer home the concepts. Great work.

I think I need to watch this thousand times😂 im still so confused when it comes to vocals I cant understand why we need it. I understand to balance the sound but clearly I am still in the unknown. I understand how it works on other things like instruments and digitally played stuff i can hear and understand. Thank you for good video!

Really love these episodes as I am new to production and ozone. Thank you so much. As someone brand new to it all...It was really well explained and I understand I need to try these things for myself but as you change parameters on the compressor i would also like to have a few moments to hear the changes you made as it helps me to understand further. Thanks again though. Big Up.

Great video!! But at 11:52 there's a very confusing explanation, and perhaps even wrong. Saying the knee goes from smoothing out between not compressing at all below the threshold and compressing at the chosen ratio above it" seems contradicting, since u cannot compress below the threshold. A better explanation in my opinion is: Hard Knee: This creates a sharp and abrupt transition. Signals just above the threshold get compressed heavily, resulting in a more noticeable effect. Soft Knee: This creates a gradual and smoother transition. Signals near the threshold get compressed slightly, leading to a more transparent and natural-sounding effect. I hope this helps anyone else who might have gotten confused by this! And thank you for the video, I just had to clarify

Compressors are definitely one of those tools where it is not the most easily intuitive, compared to say EQ. But once you have an understanding of the basic concepts, then it becomes second nature.

Great explanation of compression (although I'm German, I understand it quite good)! But applying it correctly to an instrument/voice (-track) is much more difficult for me as a beginner.

Dude says this is the 2nd video. Where is the link to the "FIRST" video?

The lowering of the original sound by 50% is it like parallel compression

Does the Neutron Pro standalone Compressor have the Oscilloscope, too? Or is it only available when it's in the Neutron rack?
@GiggleByteGuy2 жыл бұрын
can we do a tutorial for only voice over videos!! The dotted boxes underneath the neutron logo contains options like "compressor", "EQ" etc..... for a crystal clear results, do you need to arrange the order in which they appear. example: should i compress before equalizing or after?

That’s true, it’s the make up gain you apply afterwards that brings the level up 👍
