Another thing to note is that dead dove will look different from fandom to fandom. I’ve read plenty of dead dove that isn’t super dark but the source is so fluffy it’s tagged that way, meanwhile I’ve read super dark fics that don’t have the tag because of the source material. If the source follows a k!ll3r then fics with mnrd3r in them will usually just be tagged as “canon typical violence”, meanwhile if your source if Sofia the first, it probably will be tagged dead dove.

Dead dove fics are the best. Specifically because they label it AS dead dove. Not tagging it sucks.

I've written dead dove and it really is strangely therapeutic. I do happy endings for my stories though lol. I guess my motto for my fics is that I can drag the characters through Hell and make them go through the worst of the worst, but in the end, they'll be in an okay place. Maybe not a great place, but the worst will have been behind them. They may have been broken down as far as a human can be broken down but they're still standing. And all of the graphic descriptions and sense of hopelessness you give the reader makes that ending feel that much more cathartic.
