Definition of done tells what all thinks each one in the team must do before they can say they have done or completed their work. This is more from process perspective. Acceptance criteria tells what should be the outcome expected based on which product owner will accept the deliverables. This is from functionality perspective. Which means something that is providing solution from long term perspective. By defining the DOD, you are basically avoiding any Suchir future occurences where this conflict can arise.
