According to the Seerah of ibn Hisham the matter of Dhu al-Qarnayn was known to the Jews from their book we now call the Bible. According to the Biblical book of Daniel chapter 8 verse 20 Dhu al-Qarnain was of the kings of Media and Persia. Cyrus was said to be half Persian and half Median according to Xenophon. The evidence is overwhelming.

I saw someone wrote that Dhul Qarnayn's real identity is a man by the name of Ayyash Abdullah, who is a descendant of the Prophet Nuh. The same person who wrote this also mentioned that he lived at the age of the Prophet Ibrahim (and another poster with similar argument claims that Dhul Qarnayn was briefly a disciple of Prophet Ibrahim and reverted to Islam through Him) but was resurrected twice at later ages; during the time of Prophet Yusuf, and then Musa. The poster did not cite his sources, so i'm curious as to where he obtained such information. I have tried looking up sources which state Dhul Qarnayn lived at the age of Ibrahim, but had difficulties in finding it. All the internet articles mentioning Dhul Qarnayn is always tied with Alexander and Cyrus. So may i know your sources on this topic? Preferably arabic/islamic sources, since they tend to be more authentic and traceable. If recorded history is truthful, then it must neither be Alexander nor Cyrus, since according to it, both either practices paganism or idolatry.

In the hadith Dhulqarnayn was a righteous servant of Allah who loved Allah and Allah loved him. Allah sent him to his people, so he called them to Allah, so they hit him on the head. So he died, then Allah revived him after a hudred years, then Allah sent him to his people, then he called them to Allah, so they hit him on the head again, so he died again, then Allah When he was revived after a hundred years, he came to be called Dhulqnayn After that, Ali said, "Today I am an example of Dhulqarnayn among you (some mufassirin conclude ali claiming himself Dhulqarnayn because Ibn Muljum hit Ali on the head and in battle of trench amr ibn abd wud also hit ali on his head) But with great regret, Ali's enemies suppressed this glory of Ali forever

The hadith also found in both hadith collections that the prophet saying O Ali there is a treasure for you in paradise and you are like Dhulqarnayn in this ummah. So the prophet said, O Ali, there is a better garden for you in paradise than this Then they go further and then they pass through another garden. Ali said to prophet what a lovely garden it is. So the prophet said, O Ali, there is a better garden for you in Paradise than this Then he hugs Ali and starts crying loudly and says, "O Ali, indeed, what you have done in Khyber and Badr and in the battle of trench you will be envied and your rights will be taken away from you.

Persian king Cyrus (the great., i f you will), was benefactor of Israelites for their freedom from Babylon & for 2nd temple at Jerusalem etc. Iranis claim he wore a hat with 2 screws on it & try to show some helmet with no horns on it as such except the screws, hence the zulqarnain They connect that he went from black sea to mediterranian sea & down to south, hence three cornres of the world. The book known as Pseudo-Callisthenes is often erroneously thought to have a story about Alexander and Gog and Magog, in truth Pseudo-Callisthenes says nothing of the sort. The source of the confusion is a post Islamic tale called "A Christian legend Concerning Alexander" by its translator EA Wallis Budge. The story is peculiar to a few manuscripts written in Syriac and dated to the 1700-1800's. This episode is not from Pseudo-Callisthenes at all, even the Syriac translation of Pseudo-Callisthenes doesn't have this episode. In fact there is nothing that connects Alexander with Dhu al-Qarnain of the Qur'an and the book of Daniel which mentions Dhu al-Qarnain and says he is a Persian or Median king. Chapter 8 verse 20.

We have elaborated in this Quran for the people every kind of example, but the human being is a most argumentative being. tafsir al-Quran bi-l-Quran (explaining the Quran through the Quran), can be found in the oldest works of exegesis alongside other styles and approaches. Similarities between Dhul Qarnayn and Prophet Sulaiman alaihi salam. Here is the list of similarities between the two characters. 1️. Kingship Only two Prophets were mentioned as King in the Quran. Prophet Daud and Prophet Sulaiman Pbut. Dhul Qarnayn was a king. Qs 18:84. Surely We established him in the land and granted him means of access to everything. Prophet Sulaiman Pbuh was also a King. Qs 27: 16. And Sulaiman was Dawood's heir and he said: O men! we have been taught the language of birds, and we have been given all things; most surely this is manifest grace. Qs.38:35. He said, “My Lord, forgive me, and grant me a kingdom never to be attained by anyone after me. You are the Giver.”. Qs.38:39. “This is Our gift; so give generously, or withhold; without account.”. 2. Both were blessed with many great things to help them accomplish their tasks that was to spread the word of god. Missionary and travelled far and wide. Dhul Qarnayn - Qs 18:85. So he followed a way, 89. Then he followed a way. 91.And so it was. We had full knowledge of what he had. 92.Then he followed a way. Prophet Sulaiman Pbuh - Qs 21:81. And (We made subservient) to Sulaiman the wind blowing violently, pursuing its course by his command to the lands which We had blessed, and We are knower of all things. Qs.34:12.And for Sulaiman the wind-its outward journey was one month, and its return journey was one month. 3. Prophethood. Dhul Qarnayn - Qs 18:86, 87 & 88. Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it [as if] setting in a spring of dark mud, and he found near it a people. Allah said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish [them] or else adopt among them [a way of] goodness." Until when he reached the place where the sun set, he found it going down into a black sea, and found by it a people. We said: O Dhul-Qarnayn! either give them a chastisement or do them a benefit. He said: As to him who is unjust, we will chastise him, then shall he be returned to his Lord, and He will chastise him with an exemplary chastisement: And as for him who believes and does good, he shall have goodly reward, and We will speak to him an easy word of Our command. He said, "As for one who wrongs, we will punish him. Then he will be returned to his Lord, and He will punish him with a terrible punishment. But as for one who believes and does righteousness, he will have a reward of Paradise, and we will speak to him from our command with ease." This verse has the same meaning as in surah Yunus in which Allah Subhanallah ta’ala mentioned as; Qs.10:47. Every community has a messenger. When their messenger has come, judgment will be passed between them with fairness, and they will not be wronged. When messengers reached a community, they preached Allah’s word and established law and order. Shariah law. Prophet Sulaiman Pbuh - Qs 21:78 & 79. And Dawood and Sulaiman when they gave judgment concerning the field when the people's sheep pastured therein by night, and We were bearers of witness to their judgment. So We made Sulaiman to understand it; and to each one We gave wisdom and knowledge; and We made the mountains, and the birds to celebrate Our praise with Dawood; and We were the doers. 4. Both were able to understand many languages. Polyglot or multi linguistics is an asset for travellers. Dhul Qarnayn Qs.18:93. Until when he reached (a place) between the two mountains, he found on that side of them a people who could hardly understand a word. *Qs.14:4. And We did not send any messenger except [speaking] in the language of his people to state clearly for them, and Allah sends astray [thereby] whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. Prophet Sulaiman Pbuh - Qs 27:16 And Sulaiman was Dawood's heir, and he said: O men! we have been taught the language of birds, and we have been given all things; most surely this is manifest grace. 5. Metallurgy They were both given the technology to manipulate both iron and copper! Dhul Qarnayn - Qs 18:96 Bring me blocks of iron; until when he had filled up the space between the two mountain sides, he said: Blow, until when he had made it (as) fire, he said: Bring me molten copper which I may pour over it. Prophet Sulaiman pbuh - Qs 34:10, 11 & 12. And certainly We gave to Dawood (Sulaiman’s father) excellence from Us: O mountains! sing praises with him, and the birds; and We made the iron pliant to him, Saying: Make ample (coats of mail), and assign a time to the making of coats of mail and do good; surely I am Seeing what you do. And (We made) the wind (subservient) to Sulaiman, which made a month's journey in the morning and a month's journey in the evening, and We made a fountain of molten copper to flow out for him, and of the jinn there were those who worked before him by the command of his Lord; and whoever turned aside from Our command from among them, We made him taste of the punishment of burning. 6. And both refused to accept gifts. Dhul Qarnayn - Qs.18:95, They said: O Dhul Qarnayn! surely Gog and Magog make mischief in the land. Shall we then pay you a tribute on condition that you should raise a barrier between us and them Prophet Sulaiman Pbuh - Qs.27:36, So when he came to Sulaiman, he said: What! will you help me with wealth? But what Allah has given me is better than what He has given you. Nay, you are exultant because of your present. Allah knows best. And May Allah guide us to his straight path.
