I've used DE for pest control and its worked well when my dogs bring in fleas. There is "food grade" DE that is supposedly safe to eat and also does not cause lung damage. Then there is regular DE that I believe is used for pools or something but it will tear up your lungs. It would be great to see the difference between the two!

Fascinating. Not sure of the consensus from others (it might just be me), but would it be possible to have the music slightly less volume in the mix? I love the tune, it's just quite hard to hear your voice at times as clearly as it would be otherwise. Anyway, it might just be me. Keep up the good work, have enjoyed the channel for a while now.

I give my horses DE in their food daily as a dewormer. The theory is the diatoms poke and pierce the parasites and their eggs causing their death. The horse's parasite egg counts are down next to nothing.

A couple days ago I worked a biology lab with diatomaceous earth. I noticed that I might be seeing Brownian Motion of tiny silica particles. These silica dust particles tend to be 100 or more times smaller than the Centric diatomaceous. Am I really seeing Brownian Motion? Even some of the smaller diatoms could shake around a little. Two days later I did a biology lab about lichen and I noticed no Brownian Motion. Maybe the fungi and algae were too big and heavy to shake? I didn't see anything shaking though, and I was a bit sad. The algae was a very pretty, green color and the fungi's hyphae were interesting too. I still had fun.

can be used also for agriculture and farming to keep the plants away from harmful pests because diatomaceous earth is abrasive.

Antique microscope slides are a cutthroat business on eBay. I’ve bid on several but always get outbid at the last second. Some can be very pricey. Nice video. I’ve got a container of diatomaceous “earth” labeled as insect control but bought for the same purpose as you’ve done here. There’s some fascinating geology behind its deposition as well as the beauty as a microscopic object.

I also stoped useing it internally. Yes, it's very hard to not inhale it and it's dangerous. I also dont know, if it can "scratch", damage, or get stuck in the bowels. There are no studies. I rather not use it. it has advantages against parasites (microscopic worms, they cannot move around it, cause it damage their bodies), and it's great source of silica. If it would be 100% safe, it would be great suplement. But it's potential risky, so I dont recommend using it too.

Comments were removed on the worm mask post so I’ll share with you here: 2016 title: Polymeric filomicelles and nanoworms: two decades of synthesis and application “Emerging applications:” “These hybrid nanomaterials have potential to exhibit both the shape anisotropy and mechanical properties of filo- micelles as well as the conductive, magnetic, and photo- catalytic properties of inorganic nanoparticles. In 2010, Winnik and coworkers reported the synthesis of PS-b-P4VP wormlike micelles with CdSe quantum dots bound to the worm corona.116” So you’re right they’re not alive per se but they are indeed a thing, but why is the question.

DE is great for insect control as its pet safe and just kills the bugs by drying and shredding their exoskeleton.

WebMD says *FOOD GRADE* DE is used for treating high cholesterol, constipation, improving health of skin, nails, teeth, bones and hair. So it is safe to eat but it needs to be eaten according to instruction on the package! It might be easier to arrange the diatoms with a cat's whisker, which is longer and firmer than an eye lash.... you would have to have a severe case of OCD to be able to do this project.😹
