DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) is one of life's most important molecules. This is because DNA is responsible for storing all of the cell's information. It is a macromolecule made up of smaller subunits called nucleotides. There are four different nucleotides (A,T,C,G) and they pair together in a complementary manner. The structure of DNA is called a double helix. For more Biology video lessons check out www.anytimeeducation.com

Wow! Your style of teaching is amazing! With your diagrams and explanations, you take a difficult process and make it simplistic and easy to understand, and do so in a short time frame. I have watched 50minute lectures on youtube and walked away with boredom and a question mark. Your videos are 10minutes and I walk away with complete understanding. Thank you for taking the time to make and post these videos.

Is the DNA actually twisted like that or is this just a representation to somehow make it easier (which I don't see how that is)?
@jeremylecornu
@jeremylecornu 9 жыл бұрын
Hi Manos. Yes the DNA is twisted into a 'helix' which is why it gets the name 'double helix'. This enables it to be compact and take up less room. Thanks for the question!

U explain it really well .... But I have a question ... Why can A not be paired with G/C instead and G paired with T/A instead and C paired withT/A and so on ..... ????? I really hope u can answer my question ... But overall .... NOBODY COULD HV EXPLAINED IT BETTER THAT U ...👌
@jadzdanger4363
@jadzdanger4363 8 жыл бұрын
It is because of that shape of the A/T G/C bases for why they can only be paired together. A and T have complementary shapes allowing them to be paired… as with G and C. It is similar to the process of enzymes - an enzymes active site is complementary to its substrate… allowing the reaction to occur. I hope this answers your question :)

Franklin only found the shape of it through a x-ray but she died before she could get her medal (or whatever). but they all worked together so they all have the credit.
