3:17 Treatment for Domestic Violence
Domestic violence (also called domestic abuse or family violence) is violence or other abuse that occurs in a domestic setting, such as in a marriage or cohabitation. Domestic violence is often used as a synonym for intimate partner violence, which is committed by one of the people in an intimate relationship against the other person, and can take place in relationships or between former spouses or partners. In its broadest sense, domestic violence also involves violence against children, parents, or the elderly. It can assume multiple forms, including physical, verbal, emotional, economic, religious, reproductive, or sexual abuse. It can range from subtle, coercive forms to marital rape and other violent physical abuse, such as choking, beating, female genital mutilation, and acid throwing that may result in disfigurement or death, and includes the use of technology to harass, control, monitor, stalk or hack.[1][2] Domestic murder includes stoning, bride burning, honor killing, and dowry death, which sometimes involves non-cohabitating family members.
In 2015, the United Kingdom’s Home Office widened the definition of domestic violence to include coercive control.[3]
Globally, the victims of domestic violence are overwhelmingly women, and women tend to experience more severe forms of violence.[4][5] The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates 1 in 3 of all women are subject to domestic violence at some point in their life.[6] They are also likelier than men to use intimate partner violence in self-defense.[7] In some countries, domestic violence may be seen as justified or legally permitted, particularly in cases of actual or suspected infidelity on the part of the woman. Research has established that there exists a direct and significant correlation between a country's level of gender equality and rates of domestic violence, where countries with less gender equality experience higher rates of domestic violence.[8] Domestic violence is among the most underreported crimes worldwide for both men and women.[9][10] In addition, due to social stigmas regarding male victimization, men who are victims of domestic violence face an increased likelihood of being overlooked by healthcare providers.[11][12][13][14]
Domestic violence often occurs when the abuser believes that they are entitled to it, or that it is acceptable, justified, or unlikely to be reported. It may produce an intergenerational cycle of violence in children and other family members, who may feel that such violence is acceptable or condoned. Many people do not recognize themselves as abusers or victims, because they may consider their experiences as family conflicts that had gotten out of control.[15] Awareness, perception, definition and documentation of domestic violence differs widely from country to country. Additionally, domestic violence often happens in the context of forced or child marriages.[16]
In abusive relationships, there may be a cycle of abuse during which tensions rise and an act of violence is committed, followed by a period of reconciliation and calm. The victims may be trapped in domestically violent situations through isolation, power and control, traumatic bonding to the abuser,[17] cultural acceptance, lack of financial resources, fear, and shame, or to protect children. As a result of abuse, victims may experience physical disabilities, dysregulated aggression, chronic health problems, mental illness, limited finances, and a poor ability to create healthy relationships. Victims may experience severe psychological disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Children who live in a household with violence often show psychological problems from an early age, such as avoidance, hypervigilance to threats and dysregulated aggression, which may contribute to vicarious traumatization.[18]

Domestic violence is so common in India. If your son, husband, father, brother beats you everybody takes it lightly and say that it's their right to abuse you. Wish I was a boy I would have been so much happier. Nobody teaches their sons, only if they taught their sons in childhood women wouldn't have been ill-treated in their entire life. Every time a woman is abused it is often called as it's her fault without any reason. Its time parents teach their sons how to behave and if they aren't able to do simple parenting they shouldn't give birth to a boy who will become a monster one day.

We also need to call out the violence women put on men. Female on male abuse is higher than you think, and nobody talks about it as much. It seems we also need to teach our daughters not to be abusive.

Me and brother use to fight too much and it’s getting out of control for me, he’s so childish and immature, because he act like the toughest ass in the world, he can’t handle hate or criticism. He gets Verbally, Physically, Emotionally, Mentally Abusive when he gets angry. He already lost his voice Before. He punched a hole in the wall, and he destroy the tv remote while the game was over. He created a guilt tripping on me as a scapegoat. Me and my sister had a Toxic Relationship too much and I couldn’t deal with it anymore. My sister has ODD, and my brother has freaking DMDD. I’m Autistic and ADHD and I have stress out issues with Domestic Violence Now. And addition. My mother is just as guilty too because she never discipline them in the first place. My mother raised them to be this way when I never asked for them at all. My Mother is scared of the world, because ever since my Father Died from a car accident my mother has become scared of the world. If my Father was still alive I wouldn’t be in this situation, but no, have to be. And this is me having an Absent Father Towards me, I have a Toxic Mother That acts self and entitlement all of the time. That’s the problem, the mothers are miserable and can’t discipline their children like childish selfish bitches in this world, they’re so annoying in my thoughts, And That’s just it. People have dealt with child abuse, and they have PTSD, C-PTSD, RAD, adjustment disorders. Anxiety And Depression, Acute Stress Disorder. OCD. And other disorders that people have dealt with child abuse and other trauma events that they’ve seen in the past, like Paranoia. Bad people have Antisocial Personality Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Histrionic Personality Disorder, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, Psychopathy Sociopathy and IED and they are so Abusive and Neglectful to others in this world. Because they act like the most toughest assholes in history. That why you have to stay away from them forever, because you know they’ll do that again to you.

I am tired of backing up against a wall and having my abuser still come after me. I was raped and beat while my children were molested, and I reported it, but the Military did nothing and the police tried to hide the reports i did call in. Today 12/16/2022 I learned that he had mail go to his home that I have not ever had a reason to. I called the police and sure enough the officer came back with my mail. This man has done everything to make me afraid and intimidate me into fear. The Military covered his alcoholism and said I lied when I have text messages where he was drunk and audio of him drunk raping me. I also learned we are not divorced. When i wanted a divorce, he said No! but last year he had a lawyer serve me with papers but when I told her about my paperwork she did not continue. I am just tired

No conversation about domestic violence should occur without including the woman-on-man violence and how it's not only accepted in society but actively encouraged. As a result men are not taken seriously in reporting, and this leads to vast under-reporting of domestic violence. We know that at least half of domestic violence is committed by women against men and yet domestic violence shelters for men only constitute 10% of beds. So much work needs to be done.

maybe- maybe a good way to 'reduce' DV by 50-80% is not to 'terrorize' families and the innocent with the criminal legal system while funding trial lawyers, but rather to make sure getting into a home and being 'self-sustainable' is not as 'ridiculously difficult' as it is today. I wonder how much that could help and not just with that. There are lots of people, often young, trapped in 'toxic' situations and/or situations that don't work. 'mobility' is a good thing. After all, no woman 'has to' stay with an 'abusive man. She/ he- sometimes men are 'victims' too, 'needs' a 'support network' and good 'alternatives.' It's that simple. well, not really there are also situations with kids and i just thought about the childless situations. That gets more 'complicated.'

Why ate violent tempted men not punished by law. Why does the law enforcement officer's ignore the abuse carried out by these men, even Docters hide the correct situation by taking bribes, even the police and even lawyers. What is the punishments for people who are violent and is hiding under the guise of mental illness. Why does countries grant Asylum for people without checking their background They.offer Asylum to lawbrakers and violent temoeted individuals who abusive towards their spouses and children without double checking or investigating the authenticity of these cunning men who pay lawyers handsomely to present their fake stories. How can any Government could be so naive by protecting these violent individuals who could be a threat to others.
