Thank you for this brother, I think calvanism is the biggest issue right now because it teaches looking at yourself and not christ. I should know I was in it but the Lord revealed the truth to me about a year ago and I'm so relieved that Jesus took care of everything 2000 years ago and he's why I'm going to heaven. "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures". Anyone reading this who isnt saved, Jesus did this to save you from burning in hell for eternity. All you have to do is trust him as savior and receive eternal life

Romans 2:4-11 Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who will render to each person according to his deeds: to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life; but to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation. There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek, but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. While I don’t think we have reason to doubt that they are saved, we do have good reason to doubt that they would be a good fit for ministry or for, y’know, comin’ ‘round our kids, depending on the severity of their sinful lifestyle. I mean, if someone is saved and they’re living in some wicked sin, I certainly don’t want them around my kids/family/etc. … faith is that confident conviction that Jesus is who He says He is and will do what He said He’ll do. Faith is the workless obedience of trusting in Jesus. If your lifestyle doesn’t show what you believe, then what do you even believe? At any rate, if someone claims Christ, we can most certainly tell them to act like it.

You need to trust Jesus Christ alone for your salvation. Judas Iscariot was a disciple of Jesus and he still went to hell. Why? Because he did not believe. John 6:64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. Salvation and service/discipleship are 2 separate things. One is a free gift that costs you nothing (salvation) and another is a difficult path of service which costs you everything (discipleship). You can not add works to grace Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. If you seek to enter the kingdom of heaven by your good works you will be under the curse of the law. Galatians 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. Galatians 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. Trust Jesus Christ alone for salvation and not your works or the way you live your life day to day. Jesus died, was buried and rose again so that those who would believe on him have EVERLASTING life. If you want to serve then by all means do, but it is not a requirement to get into heaven since we are saved by grace through faith not of works as per Ephesians 2:8-9.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Many people on judgment day will be bragging of their works that they did for Jesus, yet they will not make it into heaven because they did not do the will of the Father which is to believe. These people trust in their works, not Jesus. You will be among that crowd if you don't trust Jesus to save you. Your works will never save you, they are filthy rags before God. @@willc539I agree with you for the most part, but we have to be careful not to bifurcate faith and service/discipleship. While they are different they go hand in hand. Saving faith *inevitably* and naturally produces works/fruit. There is no such thing as a fruitless believer. Not saying that a believer will be perfect or won't sin. But his/her life will be changed. Sanctification is a process that will take place no matter what. Also be careful, saved by faith alone through grace alone does NOT mean it is a license to sin.
@willc539
@willc539 9 ай бұрын
@@johndavolta3124 Works have absolutely nothing to do with salvation at all. Saying every single believer will have works is untrue. Faith is defined in Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. You trust that Jesus died for your sins, was buried and rose again and you are sealed with the Holy Spirit and possess eternal life. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. We are sanctified by the Holy Spirit at the moment of salvation. That is sanctification. It is not living a progressively less sinful lifestyle. You, me and everyone else use grace as a license to sin each and every day whether you would admit that or not. The Bible says that the thought of foolishness is sin in Proverbs 24:9. Out of the thousands of thoughts you have each day, surely a few must be foolish. As James 4:17 says: Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. Who does good all the time? You need to trust that Jesus died for your sins, was buried and rose again and you won't go to hell, its simple, no works at all. John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

Unbelief is a sin. Believism is the act of turning from the sin of unbelief. Easy believism says you dont have yo repent of sin as long as you believe. But unbelief is a sin from which you repented. Biblically, repentance (metanoia in Greek and teshuva in Hebrew) means to change your mind and turn from that which is destroying your soul, turn from the sin of unbelief and be obedient to the moral standard God commands us all to obey. When we are regenerated we not only turn from unbelief, we must also turn from pride, self-righteousness, adultery, murder, theft, blasphemy, sacrilege, etc. Repentance and belief encompasses more than just a changed mind; it requires an about-face, a completely changed life. If you say you believe but have no change in your life that indicates you've turned from the world, the flesh, and the devil, then your still living for the world, the flesh, and the devil.

@zebra2346 Жыл бұрын
Yes we should do good works as Christians but good works are not a necessary condition for salvation. What you are saying that we are not saved by good works, but that we will necessarily demonstrate good works because we are saved. Therefore if someone does not demonstrate good works as a professing Christian, then they are not saved. Friend, I believed that lie for many many years. It is a deception, it is completely unbiblical and contradicts what the Bible teaches about how we are saved. Question: What are good works? Answer: Good works is obedience to the Laws of God-keep the commandments, do this and don't do that, love God and love your neighbor, etc. Yet the Bible clearly teaches over and over that we are justified/saved by faith alone in Jesus Christ apart from the works of the law. And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, Romans 4:5 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8‭-‬9 For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law. Romans 3:28 Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.” Galatians 3:11 And be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith- Philippians 3:9 Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified. Galatians 2:16 For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. Romans 3:20 Do you see the problem? The moment you point to your obedience to God's Laws to prove your salvation, you are basing your salvation on your performance and not the finished work of Jesus Christ, contradicting God's promise of salvation by faith in Jesus Christ apart from the works of the law. Can you please explain to me how the absence of good works in the life of a professing Christian who has faith in Jesus Christ is not saved? Please reply

It’s easy but it’s hard if that makes sense. It’s very difficult for most people to humble themselves , lay down their pride to put their faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior for all their sins past present and future with no added works. So the gospel is easy and free to receive for those that can do that but most are very proud and demand to have their works added to what Christ has done and argue and defend a gospel of faith + works. In this case it’s Jesus + you saving yourself which isn’t Salvation. The works we work in this world are a work of God in the Holy Spirit that dwells in every believer. These works are works of the soldiers of the body of Christ to recruit more believers in this time of God’s grace until the glorious appearance of Jesus Christ in the air at the rapture of the church.

QUESTION: i know this isn't related, but i hear this all the time, "The Holy Spirit will convict you of your sins." John 16:8 (KJV) And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: how can the Holy Spirit convict believers of sin, if we are justified in His sight? @Europeangardens
@Europeangardens Жыл бұрын
Shinybrightknight John 16 9 doesn't say the Holy Spirit will convict you of your sins....it says sin, which is the sin of unbelief into Jesus. John 16 8-11 happened to me 20 years ago. I was sitting on my toilet, contemplating about the sky. I was troubled because the sky has no end. This just never bothered me before until now...on the toilet seat. I was in deep thought. I kept thinking, if I'm lost in this temporal life, lost like in success, relationships and even literally lost in direction of streets in my big city...I thought, if I'm lost in the here and now, HOW MUCH MORE WOULD I BE LOST IF I DIED AND WENT INTO THE UNENDING SKY??!! At that very moment I became horrified and said .....WHO CAN SAVE ME??!! And right there, sitting on my toilet seat, Jesus Christ appeared right before me. I couldn't believe my eyes! Tears flowed out of me like a stream. I said Jesus is really for real!! Now, this is what a lot of people say and that all you need to do is believe "in" Jesus and you're saved. Not true. Believing in Jesus and doing good works for salvation is also not true. Here's the rest of my Jesus encounter. I see Him, I believe "in" Him but was asked(giving me free will) to say... "Jesus is Lord!" Anyone can say those words....but it's entirely different when you're in the presence of the Holy Spirit. At this time I was off the toilet seat and into my living room. As I began to say...Jes...I felt that I was being erased, so I couldn't say it in full. I was asked to say "Jesus is Lord," again. I said....Jesus is....and again I knew I, the SELF would die if I completed it. So I stopped short. I again was asked to say... Jesus is Lord. I tried my third time....Jesus is L.... couldn't do it. I wanted to live. All I knew was me and my world...and didn't want to lose them. Jesus Christ now disappeared right in front of me, and a shame that I never experienced before came upon me as I muttered..."I just rejected Jesus Christ....I just rejected Jesus Christ...and all of a sudden...I entered eternal hell. Now I'm starting to believe that I must have really died because I'm here in torments forever and ever. It was like I was a cemented statue. Couldn't move blink or drink. Even my free will to think was taken away from me. I blew my only chance that was given me by the Grace of God. Their was no time in Hell...I just was and will always be in conscious torments. This was the most horrifying experience of my existence. And there by the Grace of God, I'm back in "time," back in my living room...but still uncertain of what God would do to me because I just experienced how God can crush you like a bug, without ever dying. I physically trembled for a good month after that. If anyone asks me, is hell a ceasing to exist, a temporal hell and then annihilated or eternal damnation?? I say it's eternal torment, no doubt about it. If anyone wants to believe in annihilation, go right ahead...but I'm not believing those lies. Also, if someone asks me , why does a person go to Hell, is it for their smoking, or this sin or that sin? It's the SIN of UNBELIEF INTO JESUS CHRIST!! Not only is this true for me based on my Jesus encounter, but it's biblical. The Greek word EIS has two completely different meanings. Google it. The Greek word EIS can mean "in," or Eis can mean "into." John 3 16 is..."whosoever believeth "INTO" Him should not perish..." The Recovery bible version corrects these. Why did the early translators use "in" instead of "into" in many verses? Maybe because they weren't Born Again and therefore had no spiritual discernment?! Here's an example, one person believes "in" the ocean and observes it from the shoreline, while another believed "into" the ocean and became immersed with it. Big difference. Believing "in" Jesus is being on the right track but that doesn't give you LIFE. Believing INTO the Living Christ gives you LIFE ETERNAL. Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it, Luke 17 33. The Holy Spirit convicts people of their sin of unbelief into Jesus. The Spirit convicts people of wrong Believing. And as far as being convicted of sins, your conscience is there for that . And it's all in that last verse you wrote about. "Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath THROUGH HIM." See, we have to go through Him, like opening the door is not enough...we need to walk into Him for LIFE. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them, John 6 56 Put your TRUST INTO Jesus and INTO Him Alone with the weight of your entire existence, without holding anything back.

Fact 10: the idea that James 2:14 is referring to some special type of faith in Christ which is not saving is not only unsupported by the grammar, but it is absolutely contradicted by v 17. If v 14 means, “Can that kind of faith save him?” because the word faith, pistis, has the article (hē), then verse 17, which also reads hē pistis, means, “Thus also that kind of faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” James would be saying that if you add works to that kind of faith, then that kind of faith would be saving faith. And, most likely he would be implying that there is another kind of faith which, all by itself, without works, is alive and saving. Saw this quote from one of the blogs, could you explain this one to me bob?

@@jacklawrence3945 Sounds like you're overthinking those verses without considering the overall context, which is how Christians should conduct themselves as witnesses for the Gospel. You have to consider verse 15, which is talking about food, when reading "save" in v.14. "Save" is as much a very general word in Koine Greek as it is in everyday English. Seems James is arguing that actually helping people, specifically the poor and hungry, requires action and not just a profession of faith in a single God.

Also "dead" in this context is a euphemism for "useless", which the NASB uses instead. The same Greek word (necros) is used by Paul to describe "the deadness of Sarah's womb" in Romans 4, which is to say that it wasn't fulfilling it's intended purpose, not that it didn't exist or was something else.

The difference between James 2 and Hebrews 11 is that James is talking in a practical, first-person, ground-level context whereas Hebrews 11 is more of a top-down, abstract scholarly exposition of the application of faith in the real world. This happens a lot between Paul, the scholar who translates Jewish thought into abstract western terms, and the rest of the Hebrew/Jewish Biblical writers who have a very concrete, first-person narrative way of communicating.

Believing you have eternal life in Christ means you believe your salvation is eternal (Once Saved Always Saved), and salvation by grace excludes law keeping. Here are a couple verses I like to use to show people what one must believe to be saved: ---------------------------- 1 John 5:10 - He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 1 John 5:11 - And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. ---------------------------- Acts 15:11 - But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they. ----------------------------

I read this, and He said that salvation is a free gift he said that to claim that you have received that salvation and to do nothing is kind of like saying that you really don't believe in Salvation because it's like telling a person that you marry I love you but never doing anything to prove that you actually is in a relationship with that person he is not stating that salvation is not free he's saying what Christ said that if you love me and you are loyal to me feed my sheep do the works for the kingdom of God. but some of you get on here and because you disagree with what somebody says, you butcher their materials to make yourself sound like you are right about what you're saying. But here's a question for you if I claim that I am saved by the blood of Christ and salvation is a free gift but if no Christians go out and evangelize and tell others then how are we supposed to do the works for the kingdom of God if everybody is just sitting around in the church waiting on Christ to return you see this guy they wrote this is trying to say that love is action not just words. Then the demons who believe have eternal life also. James 2:14 begins a discussion of faith without works and includes a vivid point by James that even the demons believe and tremble (James 2:19). The “faith” of demons is useless, even though they tremble at what they know to be true. People who say they “believe” in God while showing no evidence of faith have a level of “belief” similar to that of demons. Salvation is free, but if you have Christ living in you it will show by how you live, if there is no change in how you think or act then you have not been reborn. Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. Churches are filled with easy believism believers, that's why today's church is irrelevant to our culture and why we are loosing our freedoms.

Demons, according to James, believe in monotheism. The content of that belief is not false or useless for salvation (although not entirely the gospel) That’s not the point of the passage. The point is faith apart from work is dead, or of no profit to ministry. The hungry, naked, and destitute will not have their needs met by faith alone. It’s much more complicated when we consider quotation marks don’t literally exist in New Testament Greek. It’s very possible this line comes from James’ pretend opponent.

@@CrabTribe The belief spoken of here is more than an intellectual belief, it is a trust, you put your trust in Christ, you acknowledge you are a sinner. The wages if sin is death and there is no one but Jesus to whom you can turn to for a remedy to sin. When you hear the gospel and put your trust in Christ he renews your spirit and you are no longer separated from God. There are many people in churches that believe in Jesus, but have not given themselves over to trust in Christ as is evident from the following verses: Matthew 21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ These are people who are active in a religious church setting who like religious activities but they though they believe Jesus, they have never submitted themselves to Christ. They can do all the good works they can, but it does them no eternal good becasue they are still trusting in their own works. This guy Bob on his website says that a belief that saves does not have to reflect any change in how you live. That kind of belief will keep you on the wide road to destruction.

Dear Bob, I think that it is you that don't quite understand God's saving work in the believer's life. Bob, everyone who God has predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son (Romans 8 verse 29) WILL be conformed into the image of His Son in Christ's redemptive work of salvation ie justification. Further, God who predestines His own to be saved and justified in and by the work of His Son will also bring their lives in conformity with God's will and work in them and this is so clearly stated in Phillipians 2 verse 13 ; For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. God supplies His Son to redeem believers from the penalty of their sins and also to set them free from the power of sin so that they are no longer self-seeking and do not obey the truth (Romans 2 verse 8 but to those who are self seeking and do not obey the truth but obey unrighteousness - indignation and wrath.) By God's sovereign decretive will to save a person they are saved to the uttermost as stated in Hebrews 7 verse 25 (justified by faith alone in Christ's salvific work of atonement) and it is also God who changes the believer's sinful bent so that their heart which formerly was only inclined to sin is now changed so that they seek to live in close fellowship with God, to know His good, prefect and acceptable will and to obey His will. Ezekiel 36 verses 26 - 27. The believer is solely and absolutely saved to the uttermost through Christ's work on the cross and believers is given a new nature 2 Corinthians 5 verse 17 ) and heart (2 Corinthians 4 verse 6) to also live in accordance with God's will albeit still imperfectly on this side of eternity whilst Christ's sacrifice continues to their saving merit despite the fact that their obedience is imperfect.

Jesus makes it clear we must bear fruit. Luke 13:6-9 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. 7Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? 8And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: 9And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down. John 15:1-6 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman2Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. 3Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. 4Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. We don't have to ever wonder about our assurance of eternal life based on the amount of fruit we've produced that's what faith is all about. Faith is looking at Christ, not our selves. We know if He is first in our lives, [Matthew 6:33] Jesus will pave the path for us to produce fruit for His glory. Pray often spend time in His word. Worship and praise the most high God.

Matthew 28:19 19Therefore go and make disciples [Followers]of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

@@2Chronicles714_ repent to to change your mind. No where did Jesus say repent of your sins only to repent. Meaning, change your mind about not believing in the gospel into believing the gospel

For Jesus to grant forgiveness of sins without a change of conduct makes the grace of God an accomplice to evil.

4:4 Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. 4:5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, 4:6 just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works: 4:7 Saying "Blessed are those whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; 4:8 blessed is the man to whom the LORD will not impute sin."

@@ScrogginHausen I'm not saying anything. Your problem is with Jesus. Jesus is the one who said Repent or Perish. If you love me keep my commands. It's unbelievable that so many do exactly what Paul said not to do. Use grace as an excuse to sin. Galatians 6:7-8 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8👉For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; 👈but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

@@2Chronicles714_ Also, Paul uses flesh/spirit synonymously with works/faith. Hence, "we walk by faith, not by sight".
