There's a very simple reason why house music is most commonly 128 bpm. Divide 128 by 4, to get 32 measures/bars per minute. Intro for 8 bars (0:00 - 0:15) Verse for 16 bars (0:15 - 0:45) Build up for 8 bars (0:45 - 01:00) And therefore, the actual drop is _exactly_ at 01:00 (one minute). Although not many 128 bpm tracks actually do this exactly. Sometimes the drop is actually earlier, or later. What is true however, is that at exactly 01:00, it will most likely be the beginning of a measure (that is not counting any silence at the beginning of the track obviously).

What I love so much about edm is how varied it is. There is a style for everyone!!! Great video for teaching new listeners the basics of edm. Also, drum and bass represent

@Lloyd Frayne totally agree with you. It's a shame a lot of new dance music listeners don't know the roots of dance like early dubstep, happy hardcore, jungle etc. Always good to see another dance music lover who knows their stuff

Great Video!! And very interesting presentation! But, I am still having difficulty in identifying my track's genre! It is definitely EDM, but for house music it has more prominent bass and lead riffs!! No vocals makes it Techno House. How do I tag it properly ?

Thank you for being an excellent presenter. This video topic was very useful. While looking at vendor guides, I did not find definitions of EDM or IDM. Your video came up during my research. FYI Please improve your microphone placement to eliminate the "distant" sound. Rode sells a powered DSLR hot shoe mic that should help. It's under $200. You may also want to invest in a green screen and second camera. See Guy Michelmore's channel for examples of multiple cameras and microphones. He is a film music composer.

before EDM there was seperate genre...but now EDM just combine all these types of music into 1..kinda like rock..rock has alot of sub genre from heavy to alternate to garage..
@niemand7811 Жыл бұрын
There were always separate genres in electronic music. It is funny that you think the invention of the acronym "EDM" changed anything. Oh it did change a thing. It brought the frat boys to electronic musis, making low key producers justify selling their low tier crap now for high ticket prices. That joke is on you if you ever attent such festivals.

I know trap is mostly related with hip hop but not all traps are related to it. Theres some melodic trap, hybrid trap, hard trap, etc. And they are related to edm. Sorry for my grammar

Well, there's a pattern to trap drums. Snare goes on the 3, unlike hiphop with snare on the 2.

Hate to be that guy but yeah, Skrilllex was late to Dubstep. Dubstep comes out of the death rattle of the U.K. Garage scene. Check out El-B, Zed Bias, Horsepower Productions for the dark 2step that would influence the Dubstep sound. And then the first wave Dubstep artists like Skream, Benga, Mala, Coki, Loefah. But if you’re looking for bright shiny EDM you won’t be in luck
