Very nice video. If my wife and I want to both get the elective visa I understand that you say we need 38,000 euros in passive income. Does that passive income need to only be in one of our names, or will the consulate consider each of our passive incomes? For example, say my wife has a 20,000 euro pension and I have a 25,000 euro pension... as individuals neither of us would qualify, but if our passive income were combined, we both would... Also, where can I find the official rules for this program, I looked on several Italian government websites but they provide much more general information than you do here.

Based on the available information, I t is uncertain if the consulate will take into account both couples' passive income. Please keep in mind that the most current and up-to-date information on visa rules and entry requirements may always be obtained from the Italian consulate or embassy in your home country.

Good information. US citizen here. Is there a minimum residency requirement for staying in Italy. For example, can I spend six months in my home country (US) and six months is Italy while holding the Elective Residency? Also, if I am in Italy for less than 183 days, but hold the Elective Residency Permit, am I still responsible to pay Italian taxes? My reason for asking is I would like to buy Italian property and stay May-October in Italy.

Dear William, This visa is valid for one year. Do as you want. Besides, you do not need to pay taxes in Italy if: You are not registered in the Municipality (City Hall) of the place where you live; you live in Italy for less than 183 days during the fiscal year (January to December), and you do not have your habitual abode in the country.

@@visalibrary but can you continue to renew your Italian residency every year if you live less than six month per year in Italy every year. Meaning splitting your time between Italy and the US (six month in each country). Thanks.

@@mohammedsharif2651 You typically need to spend at least six months a year in Italy to keep your Italian residency. It's possible that spending six months each in Italy and the US will affect your ability to renew your residency.

Hi Great Information, I have a question, As a US citizen if a want to vacation all over Italy for 6 months (180 days), is the only visa for this is the "Elective Resedency Visa". also I understood that you need proof of a place to live for 1 year, but if I'm going to travel through Italy I would book accomodations in hotel and airbnb's.

Obtaining an Italian Elective Residency Visa (ERV) is the best choice for a US citizen wishing to spend six months or longer in Italy. This visa asks you to show that you have enough passive income to live in Italy without working and that you have enough money from financial resources, rents, and pensions. Married couples must add an extra 20% to that figure, plus an additional 5% for each kid, and applicants' parents are also eligible for an increase in the required financial resources. When applying for this visa, it is important to be prepared and to include a brief cover letter to make it harder for the consulate to reject your application. You will also need to produce documentation of a location to reside for one year, which may be accomplished by reserving hotel or Airbnb lodgings.

To obtain an Elective Residence Visa in Italy, you must have at least 32,000 euros in passive income per year. This payment can come from various sources, including a pension, investments, rental income, and others. Unfortunately, the Elective Residence Visa does not consider any funds in your bank account, and the requisite income must be a consistent and consistent source of income.

Do you need to do medicals
@visalibrary
@visalibrary 11 ай бұрын
Yes, for elective residence in Italy, you are typically required to undergo medical examinations, including: Medical Certificate of Good Health. Chest X-ray (if required). Blood tests (if required). These medicals help ensure that you meet the health requirements for a long-term stay in Italy.

can i show savings? or only high salary?
@visalibrary
@visalibrary Жыл бұрын
For elective residence in Italy, you can generally show either substantial savings or a high, stable income to meet the financial requirements. It's not limited to just a high salary; savings or investments that demonstrate your ability to support yourself in Italy can also be considered as a financial means to qualify for an elective residence visa.
