Hey MyFootballfootball Thx for the ques. Some1 with Emphysema usually has a faster breathing rate as there is less surface area to get oxygen into the blood. Therefore they need to breathe faster to get the same amount of oxygen into the blood. They also can end up with a 'barrel chest' as there breathing style distorts their chest and stretches the lung past its elastic limits so the lung stiffens. This means the person has to put more effort into breathing as well. hope this helps
