Idk, the pacing of S3.1 is kinda noticeably faster than almost anything else due to how it was rewritten for the anime. S2 has a huge amount of information too, but a lot of it is inscrutable on first viewing so it is a lower "effective" information density.

That's why Kenny got his name "the ripper". He murdered all the police that got close to his sick grandpa. Pretty fucked up what Grisha did though, he's really a sick individual murdering the whole royal family like that, including the little kids. 18:51 It's not even the end of this season. To clarify / summarize the tidbits about the "titan serum" from the past two seasons though: The injection turns you only into the "dumb" titans, like Ymir when she was outside the walls for 70 years or whatever. When a "dumb" titan eats a titan shifter though, they end up earning that titan power and turn back into a human again - again, like Ymir when she ate one of the "warriors" when they came to invade the walls. That's how the royal family transferred the founding titan and its powers down to its successors, which now, along with whatever titan Grisha owned, are part of Eren, holding both of them. But since he's not of royal blood he cannot make use of that power of the founder, except for that one moment when he killed that titan that ate his mom.

The Founding Titan, what Grisha did, Eren eating Grisha: that enough is plenty for one episode; they didn't really need to put the whole Ackermann story in the same episode! This is about the point you should start understanding, in AoT. It is a waste of time to look for good guys and bad guys. Everyone is messed up to one degree or another. Yes, Kenny is Levi's and Mikasa's uncle. Levi and Mikasa are also cousins. "Smart" Titan powers can be taken by eating them. This can be done by either smart (Grisha) or dumb (Ymir) Titans.
