Do you struggle with the idea of faith? What is faith, saving faith, spurious faith, and what does it mean to believe in Jesus. Pastor Jesse breaks down the true meaning of faith as pertaining to the scriptures, and he refutes the modern twisted notion that Calvinists and Arminians alike have placed on faith.

The biggest thing I've noticed from those people in the comments section who argue for works salvation is they will deny that they believe in works salvation. They will say things like "I believe that salvation is by grace through faith and we can't earn salvation." But they go on to say "you have to do good works." How they don't see that that is "earning" or "working" for salvation is beyond me.

But it's not, true belief comes from a set of circumstances that is found in the seven steps of faith. Seven progressive steps beginning with repentance to the acknowledging of Truth causing God's transformation of our being to become One in the Spirit and in Truth. There finish our works to believe. Aka: works of faith. But don't get ahead of your self faith has 7 levels. And it's not about history but about you seeing how repentance, faith and Works all combine to reveal the ability to believe in Jesus Christ. This is also supported by the seven steps of progressive deliverance to the knowledge of God's Love and the knowledge of God's Righteousness. It enters our heart by transformation to become One in and with. Knowing God's Love in Truth is both knowledge of faith and transforming of our being to filling our faith up with the works of being able to believe. Seven steps!!! Add to your faith... Goodness, knowledge, self control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, Love. For if you have these qualities in Increasing measure they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is what you are missing.

@jamestruett2694 no. Absolutely not! And counterintuitive to what Jesus and Paul say in the bible. Show me anywhere in the bible that says "faith" is a X step process". You won't. Christ tells us how to get to heaven and it is BY HIM ALONE. Paul tells us in romans 3:10-31 kjv that not a single one of us deserves heaven, nor can we earn it, because we do not deserve it. The whole reason the father sent yeshua to doe for us is because of what yeshua said to the people; "you all stand condemned". We all are condemned. Not a single one of us was deserving, nor could we earn salvation. Thus, because of the Father's great love for us, He provided salvation for us; through yeshuas life and sacrifice. His blood. If yeshua hadn't come to earth and lived a perfect life and then took our curse upon himself, we would all be condemned to hell currently. With no hope of redemption. The gospel is "the good news". Why? Because christ did it for us! Everything. That which we could not do. Now, tell me, is it good news if He just came to tell us that we gotta try really really hard, turning from every single sin, doing as many good works as possible, and then maybe we might be saved? Doesn't sound like good news to me at all. It sounds like living a life of bandage in which you don't even know if you are doing enough to have earned salvation. No. The Bible says we can have assurance of our salvation. What is that assurance? The fact that yeshua never lies. And he said whoever turns to him will be saved, and he shall in no way, turn away any who turn to and call upon him. You cannot add into that by saying "sure, he said that, but what he means by that is "turn turn turn, work work work." In fact, Matthew 7:21-23 are about that exact thing. Matthew 7:21 tells us who gets in to heaven; those who do the will of the father. What is the will of the father? John 6:39-40 kjv tells us that the Father's will is that whoever looks to the Son and believes on him will have eternal life and yeshua will raise him up at the last day. Now, Matthew 7:22-23 tells us who won't go to heaven; "and they will say to me 'but lord, lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not cast out demons in your name? And in your name, do many great works?" And I (yeshua) will tell them plainly, 'away from me, you workers of iniquity, I never knew you." Now. Look at the verses. Really look. Hlwho gets to heaven? Those who put their faith and trust in christ according to John 6:39-40. And john 3:16. And in acts, Paul tells a prison guard what he must do to be saved; "believe on the name of yeshua and you and your house will be saved." Who doesn't get to heaven? All those men did all those works and He still turned them away. Why? Same reason judas betrayed Jesus. And judas had many works. He spread the word of the gospel with the other apostles. But he betrayed christ and went to hell. Because He lacked belief in who christ was and faith in what christ was here to do. Even Jesus says "those who believe are saved, but those who do not believe are condemned already." Nothing about works. Nothing about a 3, 5, or even 7 step process. That's just legalistic jargon the catholic and calvinist churches teach to send new believers along a downward spiral of a rabbit hole in which most of them will never find a way out. I was there once. I almost didn't get out. But thanks to yeshua, my past caught up with me and He taught me the truth. That no matter what I do, I cannot earn salvation. It isn't something you work for as mentioned many many times in the bible. It is a free gift of God, by grace, through faith. + nothing - nothing. It's all about christ. This is his story. It's called History. Not ourstory.ours tory. The roman catholic church changed the definition of the word repentance. Or originally Greek, metanoia. Which means to have a change of mind. To agree. To do a 180. Go from disbelief to belief. What are people believing in that's condemning them? They believe that their good works and turning from sin is what saves them when the bible very clearly states that we can't earn it because we don't deserve it. And it is a free gift of our father. Nothing to do with us at all. He decides when someone becomes saved. Not you, not me, not anyone.

One of my favourite verses in the Bible is Romans 4:21 , speaking of Abraham and God : “And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.” Abraham simply believed that what God said was true! Jesus promises that those who believe in him will not perish but have eternal life. I’m persuaded.

Jesus doesn't lie! Yes! And that is exactly where our assurance comes from. The fact that jesus is not a liar. Too many people think their actions and feelings are assurance. But it's the very fact that we can believe every word from God's mouth because He is not a liar.

Our assurance you speak of is built on a blind assumption true assurance is built on the proven love truth reveals that you learn to become One in and with. Transformation of the heart of faith to know and be One in and with. This love in truth is a proven knowledge with feeling in unity. Jesus reveals it by his truth you find in repentance if you learn to become One then when Jesus says: "no man knoweth the Son but the Father and no man knoweth the Father but the Son AND THOSE TO WHOM THE SON CHOOSES TO REVEAL HIM." This is our faith...we don't see Jesus but we can know the love of the Father he reveals!!! Have you found the heartfelt faith? Then this is your proven faith.

@jamestruett2694 again, you depend upon your own ability to change. None of us can change our hearts. But we can change our minds. Yeshua said the pharisees cleaned the outside of their cups to appear clean, while the inside of their cups were filthy. He said first you must clean the inside and then the outside will become clean too. Only christ can change your heart. But you first must repent; change your mind about who is saving you. Are you earning your salvation, working for it? Or did christ save you? Because you cannot save yourself. Otherwise, christ had no purpose here.

Repentance, faith and works all tie together and give us the ability to believe in Jesus and know in our heart the love of the Father we have become One in and with thru Jesus. In Increasing measure until our measure is full and sufficient for our belief in Jesus Christ. Add to your faith Goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness and love. These seven steps make for the Way to believe in Jesus and become One in/with the Spirit and the truth in Jesus. If you knew how this seven steps are done, you could fill your faith's measure. The eldest of my sons interrogates me cruelly from time to time claiming I am not saved, because according to him I do not have any works...I have been reduced to tears many many times with him, to the point where I dont wish to engage with him anymore....to think that some years ago, he was destined for hell in a hand basket...he is very intelligent, and I cannot speak to him about such important things, such as faith. Please pray that he comes to the knowledge of the gospel in its simplicity. I weep over where things will lead if he does not come to the truth.

Faith is both a gift of God and a human act by which the believer gives personal adherence to God who invites his response , and freely assents to the whole truth that God has revealed. It is this revelation of God which the Church proposes for our belief, and which we profess in the Creed, celebrate in the Sacraments, live by right conduct that fulfils the twofold commandment of charity, as specified in the ten commandments, and respond to in our prayer of faith. Faith is both a theological virtue given by God as grace , and an obligation which flows from the First Commandment of God.

The work of God was the cross work. This goes well with John 6:44, and John 12:32 expounds further. Whenever these ideas are mentioned, even in Acts 5 and 11, the idea is posed that the cross draws ALL people. The individual (Jew or Gentile) must believe in Christ. The context is so important to John 6. We can’t just drag verses out of context (even 6:37-40, 47) to prove what we desire. - Trent

Hey Good morning Pastor Jesse & Tampa Calvary! I was wondering if you could possibly make a segment video on Judas Iscariot and his fate (unless you havent already done so). I have found scriptures in Matthew and John and acts that point to him being condemned to hell, 3Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. When the bible says "when he saw that he was condemned, then repented himself," would I be interpreting that correctly as he was on his way to hell for being an antichrist and tried to change his mind after Jesus or the Father had already judged him a betrayer? Don't mean to get off from the gospel but generally want to know if this is a correct way to interpret.

Hebrews ch 11 is examples to the church of how you live by faith. They(OT heroes of faith) were praised for their faith. THe evidence for their faith was in what they did. Not in what they didn't do. Noah built an ark by faith, and on down the list the writer goes. They didn't turn back, choose an easier path, or renounce their faith due to persecution. What they did was not works as in trusting in themselves, but trusting in God. A faithful life lived to God is characterized by trusting and obeying.

When you believed on the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross, your soul is saved for eternity. You're a new creation in Christ. God doesn't remember your sins anymore because Jesus has paid all on the cross. Now, you are a new creation in Christ, sealed by The Holy Spirit, you have the ability to walk according to The Spirit until you will be absent from body either by the rapture or death. A believer will still commit sin because we are still in our earthy body. when you do that, you apply 1 John 1:9.

"The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin" (1 John 1:7), by securing the remission of past sins (Rom. 3:24, 25), and enabling us to walk in harmony with the law. Gal. 2:20; Eph. 2:10; Heb. 13:20, 21. Past sins don’t need to be remembered, but that does not grant indulgences for future sin. Paul says in Romans 3 that the justification that we receive through faith in Christ, without works, is “for the remission of sins that are past.” Those sins are placed upon the altar of sacrifice in the Heavenly Sanctuary and are covered by the blood of the lamb. From that day forward, we find peace with God through the blood of the Atonement, but the Christian life has just begun, and we are now to “go on unto perfection;” [Heb 6:1] to grow up “unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” [Eph 4:13] Therefore, the sins that you commit after conversion are to be confessed daily. Let us ever rejoice that "with the Lord there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption" (Ps. 130:7); and that the blood of Christ cleanseth us from all sin.

Good sermon. In my years of dealing with the definition of faith a very subtle “redefinition” of faith has crept in and sadly by those who claim to follow the Free Grace moniker. It is claimed that you must be persuaded that what you’re hearing/reading is true. If you are not persuaded, you haven’t believed. Some will even go so far as to say you must be sure of it or you haven’t believed. Zane Hodges, Bob Wilkin, Jody Dillow, et al. (from GES, FGA, and others) insist on this attribute of faith for faith to be valid. This is flatly not true. First of all, faith is a volitional acceptance of the truth of a proposition. It’s a matter of personal consciousness when one has exercised one’s volition. Anyone can accept or reject the truth of a proposition. To be persuaded of the truth of a proposition is another matter. To be persuaded, you must have data (facts, proofs, testimonies and depending on the individual, lots of it that will take time to collect and analyze.) More than that, you must have the skill, intelligence, perseverance, etc. to wade thru the data and correctly assess its integrity and truthfulness. Most importantly, if you become persuaded, your confidence is in YOU, i.e., that you have done the hard work of collection and analysis. Finally, you must be sure that you didn’t do it wrongly or make a mistake or that you weren’t deceived. In short, persuasion is a tall order unless the proposition is axiomatic. Believing in Christ for salvation is simple and straightforward. Your focus and confidence are in Christ, not you. (Think about the brazen serpent (Jn 3:14-15) There are no demands on your fact gathering skills or your intelligence. You simply accept it. God knows when you’ve accepted his gift. He doesn’t require you to be a skilled and experienced research scientist. The words of Lewis Sperry Chafer say it all in his book “Salvation,” “It is quite possible for any intelligent person to know whether he has placed such confidence in the Saviour. Saving faith is a matter of personal consciousness. I know whom I have believed. To have deposited one’s eternal welfare in the hands of another is a decision of the mind so definite that it can hardly be confused with anything else.” Watch out for subtle false teachers. Some actually mean well, but they are very confused. (Too many letters after their names.)

Go to your Oxford english dictionary and you will see rapture and it's Second definition where the Christian theology has moved it to a place where you are whisked off to heave. The first definition says taking something by force the rape of a woman. What a word to put around the brides neck. Second Timothy addresses A resurrection that is passed already As being false doctrine. The rapture fits that category So when it happens it will be a resurrection that is past already. Because you say some will still be here.

The second definition is null and void because we literally believe the event to be an “apostasy” or a “caught up.” Forget “rapture,” and we’ll stick to scriptures such as 1 Cor. 15 and 1 Thess. 4. With oyer termminig. Means more hearing instead of more law. Which means more grace more mercy. If you do not have this in God's word. You can only teach more law and less hearing. This means there are words incorporated inside of words besides the definitions themselves. To tell you what someone is thinking while they're writing or talking. And yes God can think while he's talking just like you and I. Example: Blossom. Text the s s And you have Bloom Which is what a blossom does. Now you know it's character. We could keep going with bloom. But you get the idea. There are several characters in this one word. Which lets you hear more about What and who a blossom really is. You cannot find this in the definition. Take away the b And you have loom. Which is what a blossom does. Take away the L And you have oom. Which means uncle Which means protector. How does a blossom Protect. by looking pretty It attracts a bee To pollinate to carry on the generations of the flower. An om is quiet piece. Security. Words are alive and can tell you the past present and future And a little bit about all the words that are around it in the story. It's factative writing. It was put in all language until Noah Webster took it away. Now everything is just an opinion if you don't know what someone's thinking. And you can turn it in to whatever you want. A denominational hailstorm. Untold damage

You can't find any of this character in the Simple definition of that word Blossom. When words are let alone to defend themselves they do a remarkable job.

Faith without works is dead, what are the works of faith? We are saved by believing on Jesus by faith. How does faith define our belief? Repent and believe in Jesus. Repentance and Faith must be tied together to share in the belief in/on Jesus. Can you explain this connection? In your present broadcast you evade the works of faith in what the works are. And How you are able to have assurance or confidence for your faith. Are you defining in error the trust in the assurance...as our faith without defining the works of faith. Faith without works is dead!!! You avoided this issue means you don't know it. Your admitting that people are saved by the confident assurance in the bible being true then and now. But says nothing about the reason for belief based on the works of faith!!! ???Why are you so afraid to see what the true works of faith are??? We all have a bag of faith given to us at birth. But it is empty and we are to fill it with the substance and evidence of faith. Hence we need more than the confident assurance of proven history. Every born again is Spirit filled to the limit of their given measure. Like in the parable of the Talent's Five measures given to one servant, Two measures given to a second servant, and finally one measure for the third servant. Notice the final result the first and second servant said look master you gave us five measures and two measures and we got five more and two more measures and we both gained entry into the kingdom. But the man who buried his and earned nothing was denied entry to the kingdom. AT the least you can do it realize it's your move. This is defined in the 7steps of adding to our faith. When full is sufficient to our belief in Jesus. These seven steps are given in verse: 'Add to your faith Goodness....to goodness knowledge, self control, perseverance godliness brotherly kindness and love for if you have these in Increasing measure they will protect you but if anyone is lacking you will have to find and exhibit them selves as growth is noted . And needed..Spirit is given needed for truth and faithful belief. Great you have done step one and added a half of step two to your steps in faith. Add the other half of step two. Then finish the next five steps in faith. When done you will have a proven faith. Not a history lessen. Five more steps!! To add to your faith these truths that make for the works of faith towards the Way in Jesus. And have to answer any questions with dignity.

Faith is to be faithful, to the commands,of God. Something protestants dont now anything about . As they make churches with a Catholic book without God'authority. Romans 14:1 No authority except from God. And rupture is a protestant invention. They completely twisted that passage like everything. Search Brant Pitre on the rupture. And its completely different meaning. Pastors realy need to put the bible down, is a Catholic book made by the church for the church. God established a church, never authority was given to make other churches.

Faith is to believe. Faithful is to be faithful. Things that are different are not the same. - Trent

Your definition of faith is wrong it is faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen. That substance has tangible evidence. And knowledge. Once found. And it's found using the Way in and of Jesus. Which consist of repentance, faith and works and all three unite by the following the 7steps of faith. Repeatedly if you have more than one measure to find. Because you need to fill your measure till full and sufficient for your belief. You know nothing.

Faith is as was stated in this message based on God's word not man's wisdom. The Bible speaks for it's self.

"So what if that (the gospel) offends people?" Precisely. 1 corinthians 1:18-19: ¹⁸"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. ¹⁹ For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent."
